The dramatic rise of iPhone & Blackberry might have direct cause to the explosive growth of mobile Twitter, Facebook & other social media. - http://twitter.com/GuamGuy...

On Leo Laporte’s Net@Night show he quoted the fact that YouTube has ten hours of video uploaded every minute of every day. He then quoted Theodore Strurgeon who claimed that “80% of everything is crap”. As Leo said, even if it is worse than that and 99% of everything is crap then this leaves one per cent of excellence. This means that every minute there are six minutes of excellent video being made available - more than we would ever be able to watch!

In USA Steve -In my country, Twitter is still for early adopters and in most cases for established journalists, politicians , bloggers and tech people

You’ve heard, time and again, how critical engaging in social media is to your start up – but you probably haven’t heard it laid out this succinctly: “[Social media] represents a powerful and additional channel to first listen to customers… and in turn, build two-way paths of conversations…. we also earn a place within their network as a trustworthy resource.” The thoughts come from Brian Solis of PR 2.0 – and he really strikes at the heart of the matter - establishing your business as the trustworthy resource.

It's not inherently unethical (certain anonymous comments have great value, and some of those would only appear anonymously), but it's not as healthy for internet democracy, psychologically and socially, as a system with full accountability. And Lexy is pretty hot. That is all.
- Christopher Galtenberg
A lot of it depends on the nature of the comment and the reason for anonymity. As anyone who's studied ethics for longer than a few minutes will tell you, there are no black-and-white ethical dilemmas. Ethics is a sliding scale that greatly depends on the context of the situation.
- Curtiss Grymala
It depends on the situation, but the general rule is that while you stay anonymous when discussing serious and complex issues, it lowers consequently your credibility.
- Thierry Lhôte
Thierry, what about someone like "_why" (the lucky stiff) ? IMHO it all depends on what people say. Some are total jerks and display their names proudly. Some are genius and would rather stay in the shadow

How is this different from submitting anonymous comments to "real world" newspaper/magazine articles? There's nothing unethical about anonymous commentary imo.

Aviv, there's I bet more real activity on IRC than friendfeed or even FB

...depends on context. If you're a blogger in, say, Tehran, commenting on election fraud or something, anonymous commenting may not only be ethical, it may save your life. But if you're adding your two cents to Perez Hilton's blog post about Kanye West vs. Taylor Swift, then leave your name, why hide your identity?
