"The forger lowered the grades and scores on the printout to make Palin, an honor-society member, look like a mediocre student—but wasn't smart enough to hide the obviousness of the Photoshop job. Still, Gawker publisher Nick Denton—who earlier published e-mails stolen from Palin's personal account— asserted the fake was credible: "The grades are mediocre—appropriately the small-town girl scores a D in foreign language—but not so dreadful as to immediately stretch credulity. And the first five digits of the social security number do match Sarah Palin's."" - Soulhuntre

They've photoshopped photos of her kids, created fake transcripts, hacked her email. This is the 'new kind of politics' they worship? - Andrew Leyden
“The blind, unshakable, fanatical support for Obama that I've been seeing reminds me of the blind, unshakable, fanatical support of a certain Chancellor.”
Not like this: http://cache.daylife.com/image... When was the last time a politician drew that big of a crowd in Germany? Most McCain supporters here in Texas aren't like the online press is making them out to be...most are just like, "Well, I don't like Obama, which is why I'm voting for McCain...I just don't like him." But Obama supporters are so IN YOUR FACE...where they make it like if you aren't voting for him, you're a racist....and that kind of attitude turns people off. - Sean McGee
Every candidate has blind, unshakable, fanatical supporters. Even Nader. - Morton Fox
Sean, what does it matter how many people showed up to a rally in Germany? As for fanatical, how many Obama supports have yelled 'kill him' or 'terrorist' about McCain here in the states? How many McCains have been hung in effigy? - Stupid Blogger (aka Tina)
Uh... hey Sean - have you seen anything about your candidate's rallies?!?! talk about fanatics... - Jeremy Toeman
As for the blind, unshakable, fanatical support for Obama that you see, I would wager a hefty sum that a good number of those folks have had enough of the last eight years and have wedded themselves to Obama's campaign in the hopes that he can turn around the Bush Era of Stupidity. People without hope, as it were. - Steven "Ming" Perez
@Tina - many of the more fanatical fringe Obama supporters have been yelling for blood and murder for about 6 years now - they just have been saying it about Bush - they transferred much of that same hatred to McCain and Palin. Now, I don't blame Obama for those people and I also don't blame McCain for the fringe that support him, either. What I do find amusing is this meme trying to get started that somehow this level of fringe animosity is new to American politics or unique to McCain supporters. - Soulhuntre
Civil, reasoned political discourse in this country is more than 4-8 years dead (depending on how you measure it). It isn't new, it isn't unique and it wasn't created by McCain or created specifically against Obama. This is the way things are now - and the way elections will be for the foreseeable future. - Soulhuntre
I don't know how to explain it. I typed several answers, but that's just the way it comes off to me. I'm not condoning the douchebags yelling that stuff at the McCain rallies. I'm just saying that what I've seen of the Obama-can-do-no-wrong-is-my-personal-savior crowd scares me. They seem fanatical and infatuated. - Sean McGee
By the way, I don't support McCain or Obama. I'm not even going to vote...I was just making a commentary on what I'm seeing. - Sean McGee
It's so cute when idiots think they can be coy while playing the Hitler card. - Mark Czerniec
@soulhuntre: yep - haters on both sides since before Geo. Washington. but if you think the way folks have behaved in the last several days is no different from the past 40 years, you're not paying attention. and to try to pass this stuff of as 'politics as usual' is to dishonor those who don't engage/encourage this hate regardless of their party affiliation. - MikeAmundsen
@Soulhuntre: correct me if i'm wrong: have i seen you write posts regarding NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) before? - MikeAmundsen
@Mark, I'm not saying Obama = Hitler either...Hitler was EXTREME right...Obama's anything but...I was just pointing out that the fanaticism surrounding their rises to power is very similar. Almost a giddy frenzy, if you will. They thought salvation would come through Hitler. They needed someone to "hope" in...they wanted "change". - Sean McGee
@MikeAmundsen - yup, indeed you have. I have been working with it for a few years (and related topics) - mostly recreationally tied into some pretty cool / evil stuff involved in my lifestyle :) - Soulhuntre
Sean: Oh, so you don't actually think Obama will kill 6 million Jews -- it's just that supporters like me would be cool with that, if that was something he wanted to do? - Mark Czerniec
After eight years of disaster and disgrace, it's not surprising people are rallying around Obama. - Chris Baskind
@MikeAmundsen - in fact no, i don't think it is any different than the animosity hatred and near violence that has been fairly common among the anti-Bush fringe for the last 6-8 years. Remember the planned, organized riots intended to disrupt the RNC convention? The bombs and buckets of urine? So no, this is not new to the last few days. It is just only getting meme-time now because it is directed at a media darling instead of someone folks feel free to vent their spleen at to kudos at their watercooler. - Soulhuntre
@Mark: Do you think Obama is your personal savior? No? Then, obviously, I'm not talking about YOU. I'm talking about those folks who talk about Obama like he's Jesus....like he can do-no-wrong....and how any other alternative (including opting out of the vote) is considered racist or prejudiced. - Sean McGee
@Soulhuntre: minn & denver were not at all like chicago '68. and the fear McCain had to face down today is nothing like the protesters @ Bush/Kerry events, etc. think about it. McCain is getting boos from his supporters.chicago .68 was _liberals_ crapping on the Dems. these are totally different dynamics. that's the point. - MikeAmundsen
“I think it's very sad that people have certain beliefs and opinions that they are afraid or ashamed to state out loud. It's almost like you are suffocating a piece of yourself.”
Rahsheen, it would be wonderful to just be you and say what you want regardless of what effect it has on others. We don't live in that type of world. We have to consider what the consequences of your beliefs and opinions. If it caused you to lose out on future jobs or opportunities, would it be worth it? - Bored Lebowski
I think that not every thing should be said out loud, nothing wrong with having secrets or keeping a personal belief well, personal... - J. Abdul-Qahhar
Is this referring to something specific on friendfeed or just out of life in general? - Wensleydale Scoble
When you're surrounded by the disdainful opposition, sometimes it's just better to enjoy your beliefs and opinions in personal quiet rather than to loudly proclaim them to those who simply don't want to hear it. - Akiva Moskovitz
Secrets and Beliefs are two different things here. - Rah™
To add to that... assessing situations whilst picking and choosing went to state things is not the same as 'afraid' or 'ashamed'. - just saying. - Mona N.
LOL Akiva. Missed you guys. Did you have a nice cleansing Yom Kippur? - Wensleydale Scoble
I don't think that you have to spout off your beliefs or opinions at every turn. This is coming from a highly opinionated person. Gosh some of the stuff I read here at FF...if I did that, I'd be blocked from everyone! Well, not everyone, but sometimes I read things from people who I think are nice and over time think, "My God what a twit!". There's nothing to earn from me stating that here though. - Faboo Mama
My first reaction to most of what FF'er write is to type "GO FUCK YOURSELF" but then I think again and figure its best to keep my opinion to myself. - Bored Lebowski
If I ever come off that way to you Faboo, according to my fiance, the correct term is "butthead". - Wensleydale Scoble
Alex, this is about both. I don't mean running around asking everyone if they have accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour or anything like that, but if I ask you a direct question about what you believe in and you have a problem admitting what that may be, you really should think about why that is. There are few circumstances where your answer will actually hurt you. - Rah™
You seem to imply that "afraid" or "ashamed" or the only reasons that one would withhold stating opinions out loud. In fact, I hesitate because my opinions are, at times, both ill-formed and ill-informed. Pausing to "do the research" helps me to educate myself on those issues while being better prepared the next time that someone asks. The wise man knows when to keep his mouth shut. Or something like that. - Glen C
OK, Rahsheen, then this is definitely not pointed at me. I seem to have no problems speaking my mind in any forum. I'm honest to a fault. - Wensleydale Scoble
c'mon rahsheen this is a biased question. i refuse to answer this based on that alone! - Cee Bee
It isn't necessary to do research if you're asked what you believe in, but I guess I see your point, Glen. I'm just tired of seeing people going "Oh, everyone is gonna jump on me." I think that's a cop out. If you are not going to stand for anything, why are you here? If we don't discuss our beliefs and opinions, how do we ever advance? - Rah™
Just for perspective, I get on my mother's case about this all the time. It's like people think their beliefs will be destroyed if they put them out there. I wasn't just talking about FF :) - Rah™
Alex, it was fantastic. Thanks for asking! - Akiva Moskovitz
Rahsheen, Some people find comfort in their beliefs. If they put them out there and others attack them, that might shake their comfort. What if they convince you that those beliefs are wrong? You lost your comfort. Its a scary thing for some people. Think how you felt when your family/friends told you Santa Claus was not real. - Bored Lebowski
Christoper, I grew up with a fake chimney, I never believed in Santa..lol. That aside, I see your point. I just think it's more damaging to an individual to keep that false sense of security. Why cling to your beliefs like a life raft when they should actually be like the ground beneath your feet? - Rah™
What do you mean, Santa Claus isn't real? - Glen C
I was really counting on some money from the Tooth Fairy when I get my wisdom teeth pulled. Dammit. - JMakesAwesomeSauce
Rah, it's an interesting thread to follow here. From your original post, I would disagree, but as you have developed the thread I tend to agree with you. Might you be crafting a blog entry about what stimulated you to post this? - ChangeForge | Ken Stewart
Actually, Ken...that would probably be a good idea. :) - Rah™
I believe very strongly that Fender makes the finest production guitars in the world, and I'm not afraid to say it. - Brian Norwood
LOL@Brian. They are quite nice. I'm quite fond of the stratocaster series :) - Rah™
Sadly, I own three Rahsheen. It's sad because I want to own several more. - Brian Norwood
Brian, I am afraid I am going to have to disagree... Because in point of fact; G&L makes the finest production guitars in the world. Wow; I feel much better. - J. Abdul-Qahhar
What a person believes says a lot about them, putting your self out there can be uncomfortable. Some times when I decline to state my beliefs, its because I don't feel like defending them, other times its because it would be too difficult to put them in to words. Then there are the times I am afraid that I am going to come across like a hick from a small town because well... - J. Abdul-Qahhar
I've decided not to argue with anyone extolling the virtues of either Ernie Ball or G&L, because both companies are part of Leo Fender's legacy. But any of those Ibanez guys comes near me, I'm gonna open a keg! - Brian Norwood
"What I’m paying attention to is the company’s still-small incursion into delivering video over the Internet. Until now, Netflix had a collection of about 10,000 older movies and TV episodes. Last week it added a catalog of 2,500 movies (mainly one to five years old) from the Starz cable network.
There is an interesting back story to that deal." - edythe

They should buy Hulu ... that would be serious power at this point. - Clay Newton
But I think it is interesting that they are all now competing with Netflix, a company whose success began with a knack for efficiently mailing a lot of envelopes." - edythe
They also make it damnably easy to buy videos. It was one click. One! [Yikes.] The interface was that efficient. Just like that I had a confirmation. It happened so quickly, I'm sure I'll be surprised when the video arrives. Yes- Netflix seems to "get it". Remember Facets? No? Sadly... and exactly. - Donna Mugavero
netflix has always seemed to get it. it would be great if they added games to their lineup... - edythe
It would be nice if their online streaming were available fore Macs. My Mom can't use their service, so she's letting me "hack" her account to watch the streaming movies. I think they are slowly improving in their lineup of online streams since they are now partnered with Starz Play. - Molly, the Vampy Vampire
"Gmail, Facebook, Twitter, Digg, Flickr, etc. All of these are essentially software running inside your web browser and all of them are now on Wakoopa. We use them on a daily basis and so does everybody else on Wakoopa it seems. Firefox and Internet Explorer are our top apps. So we decided we should go inside the browser as soon as possible and release a new Wakoopa Tracker." - CannonGod
@Zee: Unwrapp should be fine if you're tracking many sites across more browsers. I've personally wanted a way to record the time I spend on sites of my choosing like FriendFeed or Twitter, no matter how obscure the url it should still be trackable. Do this and I will love you long time ;¬) - CannonGod
Daniel, you cannot link to picture only pages in FF. :-( - Kol Tregaskes
Kol, since you posted this manually you can upload the photo and then include a link to where ever you would like (including the original image online). The only time you can't link directly to an image on FF is when you're using the bookmarklet. - Stupid Blogger (aka Tina)
Immaturity - these people have it. Seriously, customer FAIL. - AJ Kohn
What do you expect? Looks like McDonalds - orionstarr
Sometimes I post images from my hard disk that have found their way there over the time. I have often no idea where they originate, but usually from some picture collection sites that have just copied them from similar sites (and they don't have idea about the origins, either) - Jemm
The best idea ever. HAHAHA. I will remember that <8) - Ryo
If I could get back onto Digg I could tell you. :-( - Kol Tregaskes
I'm not patient enough to wait 30 minutes. Once we were driving to Vegas and stopped at the Denny's in Baker (a very small freeway town with very high traffic at its businesses). After a delay, we were seated. After waiting 10 minutes and not even receiving a hello, we left. (Leaving the ketchup intact.) My wife now refuses to stop in Baker. - Ontario Emperor
-1 for uncreative use of mustard vs. ketchup, I would've drop-shadowed ever letter. I think I'm also peeved cuz, regardless of poor service, this is a bit OTT - Marko Bon
How is this OTT? waiting 30 minutes, they should've etched it into the countertop with a knife...ridiculous.... - Sean McGee
I'm not sure that there is an establishment large enough that I wouldn't be able to physically contact the wait-person and get my order in / be heard / be attended to. - Marko Bon
Why do some people blame this on the customers? It's a bit immature, but I'd be pissed too. - Tad - the Meme Maker
@Tad: 1) Customer is a dunce to wait 30 minutes for service. At 10 minutes they should have found a server and demanded service or gotten up and walked out. 2) Why take it out on a likely over-worked and under-paid server. Does that person deserve to clean up a juvenile mess? Find a manager and complain like an adult. 3) Get snarky with servers and you will not like what's in your food. Customer FAIL for weak-kneed, passive-aggressive immaturity. - AJ Kohn
Did anyone tell them it was a walk-up counter? - Kelly W.
Kol: Here's Mona's post from July 17 http://friendfeed.com/e/ebdfd5... with a link to the 7/29/07 Passive-Agressive Notes blog "This is why your server is cranky." http://passiveaggressivenotes.... It's from a lunch counter in Oregon Caves National Park, with a "Boo You Fail" note with $0.00 tip on the receipt. - Mitchell Tsai
Wow, really? What wordpress has everyone else used? It's the Windows of blogging software. Sure it works but it's complete garbage under the hood. - ·[▪_▪]·
Once I learned the WP internals, it really frightened me. It all looks like a hack. - Glen C
I've been through several such services and WP is bar far the best for me. - Kol Tregaskes
i would guess from the outside that it is a house of cards, an original system patched and patched and added to, etc... but i cannot say for sure ... what i see using it is pretty easy - Gregory Lent
Windows and I guess wordpress both ask the question of "patched" or "from scratch"? - Roberto Bonini
This is so deep and profound that unless you have already discovered "hide" nirvana in FF you won't understand what @scobleizer is saying! - Elliott Ng
Raanan: I follow a very particular set of 21,000 people on Twitter. Have you figured out how I chose those twitterers yet? - Robert Scoble
Hmmm. Very interesting thought on friendfeed vs twitter - Robert Merrill
You follow 21,000 and you have a pattern... i know what it is ...you want to hit the 40,000 mark , in line with Traffic !! ....."Forty thousand headmen couldn't make me change my mind
If I had to take the choice between the deafman and the blind...." Am shoing my age here :-) - viki saigal
Viki I don't want to follow 40,000. You must have me confused with Jason Calacanis. I want only early adopters. - Robert Scoble
Dennis: who cares? So far 11 people do. - Robert Scoble
It's nice to see you've opened your perspective on the nature of mass following on Twitter. I said it before, I'll say it again, I'm all about interacting with as many people as possible, but following needs to be selective if it's going to add value. - Andrew Badera
I'd rather than have relevant noise, than irrelevant quiet. - Mike Reynolds
I wouldn't need a desktop app if twitter and friendfeed made better use of my screen real estate. GMail and GReader are great examples of this. - Panayotis Vryonis
