GATT 1995 changed the system to term limit of 20 yrs from date of filing, not 17 years from date if issue. 1999 Anerican Inventor Protection Act forced publication of previously secret patent applications. People see published applications & simply write similar applications! Finally, the Courts, including the Federal Circuit & the Supreme Court guide patent law when they rule. Especially, "precedential decisions". Journalists, please get it right - you get lots of copyright protection for far less!"

"They forced open debate on the flawed Bill. That's the real point! First to Invent was the Founder's idea & a Constitutional right of Inventors. Intellectual property protection was deemed higher value that free speech - you miss this point. The legislation is a sham. Our system is not perfect; but, harmonizing with any other system is simply a sell-out of Anerican technical & economic leadership! Reject #AmericaInventsAct !!!"
