Ha, agreed. Another case of measuring what's easily measurable, rather than what actually matters. Not saying which is "better" (probably depends upon what you want to do with it), but using a simple metric like "number of apps" is just silly. - Joel Webber
The context behind the "iPhone > Droid" or "Droid > iPhone" arguments is that, somehow, one is going to kill the other in a primeval cage match that can only be decided in the thunderdome. In that situation, the number of apps ties into the argument for larger install bases means a platform is harder to kill (see Windows), therefore the largest install base means the platform is immortal (see The Highlander). Since being immortal is better than not being immortal (see God), the iPhone is "better". The whole system of arguments about what is killing what is ludicrous, though. - Mark Trapp
