Why I'm leaving Friendfeed, or how I surrender to the power of the ninja LOLCat - http://docs.google.com/View...
Sounds like some sour grapes, unfortunately. It's sad that people have to try to force FF into some sort of box based on their expectations and get mad when it doesn't fit. If you don't like the "top FriendFeeders" then unsubscribe from them, turn off FoaF and search Everyone for posts of your interests and make your own FF. But don't belittle others for having fun in their feeds... - Her Lindsay-ness
You say goodbye, and I say hello. - Derrick
Don't let the door hit you where the good L-rd split ya'. - Akiva Moskovitz
I didn't realize that this was actually directeur who wrote that... Sad because I liked his contributions and it seemed as if he was making the difference he says he was trying to (with his "Change for Change" initiative). I don't get the drama though. I don't have any major expectations of FriendFeed and I enjoy the variety and the phases it goes through... when I don't I just won't come around anymore... - Her Lindsay-ness
Lindsay, It's ok :) No problem at all. No problem with anyone actually. The problem is whith the tool. Men/women are the way they are from the very first day on earth. I'm not against fun, of course! How can i? I'm against laughing at everything. And I choosed to publish this "anonymously" and leave in silence. But Robert (with whom I was chatting) told that I was leaving. Anyways, I was and still am very pleased I met you :) - directeur
Take care, directeur. We were only subbed to each other briefly but I liked what I saw. Sorry to see you go because you were starting to do some very positive things here. - Akiva Moskovitz
Thanks Akiva, I really appreciate it. I'll try to carry on the things I humbly started, if not on friendfeed, by other ways like email and blogs. It was a real pleasure to meet you sir! - directeur
It seems like you expected change to happen in a very short period of time. Change happens over time and starts with a ripple rather than a splash. I'm sorry you don't see the intelligent posts or discussions. I haven't had to look too hard to find them. Sometimes the positive changes aren't made with raising money "for children" but rather changing people's outlooks one at a time. You'd be surprised what one LOLcat or one good Rick Roll can do for someone. - Lindsey is Fierce!
Good bye directeur - BeeLing
My comment from Scoble's thread, in case you hadn't seen it: "directeur, I've not yet responded to your post so I'll do it here: have patience. Large movements and changes always start out small, and yours is no exception." - FFing Enigma (aka Tina)
Where will you go? Please stay. - Mike Reynolds
Couldn't it be said about all the other social sites like Twitter and whatnot? - Outsanity & Kate + Hate
I think it's normal in the growth of any social site to see the early adopters clear out as the character of the site reflects its growing audience (e.g. Digg), but it seems to be happening faster here. I think it's an architecture/design issue. The Home feed gets too noisy and hard to manage. Time for a new use case analysis... - Sprague D
Why do I find myself spending WAY too much time in here? I guess I must find it interesting. I know that, because things I do not find interesting do not hold my attention for very long at all. - Ian May
@Sprague I wasn't aware that early adopters are the only contributors worth anything - Lindsey is Fierce!
I love message boards. This has been going on since the dawn of the internet. - Patricia
sincere and i agree with a bunch of things you wrote in that little piece of yours. - Cee Bee
And then there was no more NoiseRiver. :( - Pete Delucchi
I can totally see his point. The MiniMage of a year ago would have been turned off by FF, I think, because of my enthusiasm for tech. However, that part of me took a dirt nap a few months ago, so I spend a lot of time here. - MiniMage, sheeple of FF
:( - anna sauce
got to say, I'm sad to see you go, no matter what the reason. - Duncan Riley
Sorry to see you go! :-( I use NoiseRiver every day. - Kol Tregaskes
Good luck with your future projects, Directeur. I am sure more than one will become successful, if FeedRiver is any indication of the quality of work. Keep trying! - Phil G
