How I manage my todo-list? A really simple and efficient way: I have ONE big text file on my desktop and I write or delete stuff in it. Really, that's it.
it's very easy to seach for text in a text file, I can put things in any order, I can edit it very easily anywhere. All in all, managing my tasks shouldn't be A task for me :) - directeur
I like http://www.rememberthemilk.com, primarily because I can reference it everywhere, i.e. web site, within gmail, and via the command line with a little Perl client. - Ken Sheppardson
...oh, and don't forget to go adopt David Allen's GTD methodology :-) http://www.davidco.com/ - Ken Sheppardson
Ken, I tried RTM since its first days actually, and I have tried many other tools too. But (at least for me) nothing beats a text file. - directeur
Directeur: Don't tell anybody, but I always seem to end up going back to index cards, ala http://www.kensheppardson.com/2007... - Ken Sheppardson
That's smart Ken! :) I have a little thingy like this in my pocket, I don't use it often, since I'm almost all the time with a computer, but it definitely helps in some situations! - directeur
I've tried them all and nothing works as well as simply emailing myself. It's searchable, orderable (want it higher in the list? Just reply to the email causing it to bump up in the Gmail interface), and most importantly: available on any computer/phone - Benjamin Golub
i have a small (very thin) pocket notebook (3in x 5in) that holds a tear-off pad of paper and a small pen. goes everywhere w/ me. if i think of something important (to-do, phone no., idea, etc.) it goes there. when i get to home/office i transfer or execute as needed. paper is torn off and tossed out. - MikeAmundsen
used to use tasktoy [http://tasktoy.com/] cuz it would work on desktop and mobile device, but i found it kept falling out of sync (my fault, of course). so i stick w/ my paper and pen<g>. - MikeAmundsen
Yay for text files! - Justin Whitaker
posting about my own thoughts on the subject :) - mjc
i've fought against text files in the past... but at the end of the day, simplicity really does win. My big problem with the 1BTF approach is sharability- many of my tasks are either shared responsibility, or shared visibility (i.e., me and my wife are working on a project, my manager wants to see progress on a project, etc). the best solution i've come up with so far is........... big huge whiteboards. one at home, one at work. - Chris Hollander
What can I say... am trying to solve the whole "to-do/GTD" puzzle... am giving both Evernote and RTM a shot... Evernote lacks proper "alerting"... and typing notes in RTM is cumbersome... man... don't really know ups and downs on this one... oh.. and does needing to add more content in notes make my "need" a GTD...really? - Thomas Jeppesen
anyone using gmail to-do list? - MikeAmundsen
i have tried RTM, Things, Evernote, storing to-dos in my gmail as draft, sending mails (ben g's method), Zoho Planner. not tried: gmail to-do list. sticking with evernote for now. criterion is: rich text (highlighting et al), available on internet & iPhone, easy to type in & save, search, take pics of whiteboard & upload. - kartik vaithyanathan
this is actually how i always do. notepad on iphone for shopping - maximum. i either simply can't get used to GTDs, or just not that busy.. (or is it just good memory..) - ilovo
OneNote + DropBox = awesomeness - Jemm
I have a notebook and a pen. - Onur Gündüz
I couldn't live w/o RTM. Tags, smart lists, reminders...it's great. - Matt
