I would suggest that everyone hashtags #tweetie on twitter for the next few days so that Apple Inquisitors are comfortable with it
- Jean-Charles VERDIE
Update is available now on the app store. I just downloaded it. Love the RT (vs. via) style for RT. New dark theme is cool too.
- Abbas Haider Ali
How asinine of that Apple reviewer not to understand that those trending words have nothing to do with Tweetie. I'm glad they figured out their cock-up.
- Rick Cogley
Wow!! Listening to them right now and love what I am hearing.
- Robert Miller
From their page on Reverbnation -- "Georgia Wonder describe their music as The Carpenters driving Tom Petty to an R.E.M. gig but getting crushed under the wheels of Pink Floyd's tour bus while arguing whether to listen to 'Love Shack' by the B52's or 'Go your own way' by Fleetwood Mac." -- Priceless
- Robert Miller
Looking forward to having ping.fm support built in ! likewise an easy way to record straight to seesmic. All from one client ! awesome :)
- David Smith
from twhirl
Looks good. The first month will be the easiest. I promise. Looking forward to your B list next month!
- Louis Gray
Louis - There's 70 on this list. The question is ... will it change next month? :)
- Charlie Anzman
I'm enjoying brightkite atm. A location based microblogging service. I'm intrigued by identi.ca and as always Loics' seesmic. Not too sure about the adoption of video comments alongside the standard text responses. seesmic has a place though ! disqus integration is a clear win there. Ya think FF comments could be relayed back to original posts via disqus in time ? ah comment separation is going to become an issue there me'thinks.
- David Smith
Thanks for the mention, Charlie. Formidable company.
- Peter Troast
David - Robert Scoble has a pretty length thread goin' on about comment clustering here http://friendfeed.com/e... Peter - great chatting last week. You guys are totally cool :)
- Charlie Anzman
Nice list. I personally prefer Redfin to Zillow myself. And ZipRealty has been rapidly and iteratively improving as well.
- AJ Kohn
AJ - Both pretty lame in rural areas? Good secret next!
- Charlie Anzman
Most US Counties have their GIS online. Just search the county, state with GIS. More info than you need on a specific property. Amazing how many Real Estate agents don't know this
- Charlie Anzman
I feel overwhelmed by some of these lists and services ...where is the time to check them all out? Is it just me?
- kamla bhatt
"Forty-one year-old Roy Hobbs, from Cleethorpes, who watches Mirren in Excalibur at least six times a day, said: "Yes, well, crikey. She's a lovely, mature woman. Extremely talented. Jolly good.""

um. I would know how to react. It doesn't require much thinking.
- RAPatton
You go, Helen -- although I can't believe that aside (in the article) about her coming out of swimming in the Adriatic and "popping her teeth back in." A bit of gratuitous snark, methinks...
- Yule Heibel
"I'd do 'er. I'd do 'er all flippin' night. Oh bollocks, she's older than my mum." - Wayne Hayes :-)
- AJ Batac
How are we supposed to react? She's very attractive. She's one of the great working actresses. Am I missing something?
- Chris Baskind
I'm with you Chris. I think I know how to react: 1.) NICE butt! 2.) WOW, she's in her 60s - that's AMAZING. How else was I supposed to react!?
- Robert Seidman
I keep reading that 60 is the new 40 (which isn't entirely a good thing). But Helen Mirren sure gives cred to the idea. Still sexy at 60? Bravo!
- Chris Baskind
Helen Mirren is hot. Anyone who doesn't realize that isn't paying attention.
- Sarah
maybe they should see the Shadowboxer or more salacious coverage( or not) http://www.imdb.com/title... [it was filmed a few houses away from me, so saw here often.]
- clarke thomas
The Queen, got some Oscar buzz, you might recall ;) She's been a babe for nearly 50 years.
- Michael W. May
from twhirl
Micheal - I don't recall :D I'll google her I guess.
- Yuvi
Srsly? "I'd do her"? Nice, guys. Real classy. It's one thing to appreciate a woman's attractiveness, but you could have a little respect. Jeez.
- Sarah
Sarah, they are having fun with and quoting the site, which is a humour site. Don't get too men are pigs on us (besides, I've seen some female responses in much the same vein).
- Michael W. May
Sorry, but the best line is about the pearl necklaces.
- Rick Powell
Sarah: Depending on how high your standards are, "I'd do her", could be the highest form of respect.
- Roger Benningfield
Some men are pigs, and so are some women! And I'm just saying 1) you should be so lucky (shoot, I should be so lucky); 2) it is possible (even fore pigs) to more artfully, subtly, and yes, respectfully affirm that indeed, Helen Mirren is sexy (and I agree). Highest form of respect? Puhleeze. Isn't there a way to carry on this thread without being so crass? I was having fun with this thread, too, until I saw that, and I just wanted to call it out. I just didn't think it was cool.
- Sarah
i totally hear you, sarah. However, AJ Batac *was* quoting somebody. :D
- edythe
Sarah: Given the standards of the typical male, you're probably right. But it *could* be.
- Roger Benningfield
Indeed, though he wasn't the only one who said it. It's Helen effing Mirren, man! One of the Grand Dames of cinema! One of the most brilliant actors of our time, which, if I may say, only adds to her sexiness. She certainly deserves better than the lowest common denominator. I'm just trying to raise the level of discourse here. But then again, I should keep my expectations low. Whatever, I think all agree, Helen Mirren is hot. And if I look as good as she does in ten or twenty years, I'll be stoked.
- Sarah
Just finished watching Prime Suspect seasons 1 & 2. Besides looking badass in a bikini, she's a total BADASS.
- Ginger Makela Riker
one change that I'd do on the page: Facebook gets bigger and BIGGER but if you superpoke me one more time I'll break your f**ing finger...
- Orli Yakuel
that headless plurk dog still creeps me out when i see it. just sayin'
- Christine Lu
impressed with self-imagined broken middle fingers across the web :)
- A.T.
@christinelu bone insted head does not stand for "this is dog" - it might be a headless pig... other animals on your page looks nonetheless creepy
- A.T.
Is this from the You Suck at Photoshop guys?
- Vince DeGeorge
donnie is back today, maybe the competition made him show up again
- Dobromir Hadzhiev
"what email?" "you just powered off the exchange server" "just the letter a" "don't use aol" "salesforce.com was on the right testicle"
- Ranjit Mathoda
That was a good use of ten minutes. I'm smiling again.
- Russellreno
Ok, after watching the new YSAP - This is much much better - flavor of the week to be sure.
- Vince DeGeorge
I'm crying. The details in this were just great. I don't work in IT but I know this is what people must put you folks through...
- Kamilah Gill
that's brilliant. and i'm about ti run out of battery power here, and I won't bookmark, adn I'll probably 4get about these guys 4eva. what a shame!!!
- john conroy
You mean he rebooted the webserver without submitting a Change Request Application with work procedure and rollback steps to the Change Advisory Board for review at their next weekly meeting? ;-)
- Stuart Woodward
:)) I was getting very frustrated with FF's best of the day page, showing mostly meta-links about FF itself all the time. And then this. Once in a while, there is one single link that makes all these page loads worth it :)
- Yaniv Golan
LMAO for most of the 10 min. Will fwd to several IT peeps I know...and maybe a few peeps at Twitter. Wonder if they'll think it's funny.
- Cathryn Hrudicka
The realism of this thing is just awe-inspiring. That techie behave pretty much like any techie I've ever encountered who's been asked to do a stupid task. And the sales dude is lethally real too. This is Dilbert meets The Office on steroids. Thanks for the link.

I am glad I started using FriendFeed based on one of your blog posts
- Fred Grott
My Twitter is not dead, but people aren't getting my messages. Twitter is messed up.
- Robert Scoble
I get your messages via FriendFeed though. Anyone else find that odd? ...via AlertThingy
- Michael Koby
I'm getting most my tweets on FriendFeed (I think), but definitely a much smaller percentage through Twitter :( ...via AlertThingy
- Jennifer Van Grove
@Scobleizer friendfeed and Gtalk are the only way I know some people are still alive!
- Christopher Dickens
Yes I found the odd too! I can also get your messages from IM. Now I can only trust IM & Alertthingy (and FriendFeed of course) ...via AlertThingy
- Christine Yang
I didn't know Twitter was "down" until I saw the Tweets about it on FriendFeed lol. Ignorance is bliss. ...via AlertThingy
- Bwana ☠
Yeah, I think it would be awesome if we could post things to both Twitter and Friend Feed at the same time, and then Friend Feed would show it as one entry
- Tyler (Chacha)
yeah I am liking ff more than twitter now. I wish there was an easier way to import twitter contacts to here. ...via AlertThingy
- ilteris
Check Mashable for Twitter fix. ...via AlertThingy
- Stan Schroeder
I agree. Although I wouldn't mind if it added Facebook status updates. Maybe a redux Mini-feed if you're pushing it :P ...via AlertThingy
- CannonGod
Love Alert Thngy even more now. Just have to get AIR alpha to work on my Linux system now :-(. Getting spoiled by this Mac. ...via AlertThingy
- Tony
Blogit is the new AlertThingy. ...via AlertThingy
- Dan
I am just testing it since today but I am liking it. However, I think it could use some filters (per source, with comments, etc.) ...via AlertThingy
- Andrés David Aparicio
alertthingy is not as polished as twhirl yet, but it's getting there. And yes, they could definitely merge, I wouldn't mind. ...via AlertThingy
- Stan Schroeder
Still buggy, but has great potential. I also love the regular daily updates. ...via AlertThingy
- Joshua Kerr
Social Thing has nice FB integration. Would love that via FriendFeed and Alert Thingy. ...via AlertThingy
- David Smith
I like Alert Thingy better than Twhirl for what it is worth. ...via AlertThingy
- David Evans
I'm loving AlertThingy. The Twitter thing is great! Just wish they'd get rid of the "via AlertThingy" signature at the end. I'd even pay for a premium version. ...via AlertThingy
- Brandon Titus
Totally in love with Alert Thingy! ...via AlertThingy
- Daniel Spradau
Commenting on this post, via Twhirl, now with FriendFeed support! Yeah! ...via twhirl
- Michel Bechelani
Twhirl has upped the ante this morning with 0.7.9 though! ...via twhirl
- Tris Hussey
I am confused... ...via AlertThingy
- David Kaspar
Yeah I noticed that Twhirl added FriendFeed support to stay in the game. I tried it but like AlertThingy better. Neither are as good as they can be but AlertThingy has the better implementation in my opinion. ...via AlertThingy
- Rolf Schewe
I think it looks a lot better than Alert Thingy, I do really want it to be integrated into the Twitter window though ...via twhirl
- William Spaetzel
So far I think Twhirl is doing it better. Integrating the windows will be almost the final step. After that, filter the FF tweets so I dont see dupes. ...via twhirl
- Soulhuntre
I just downloaded the new Twhril with FriendFeed support ...via twhirl
- Mike Wills
To me the lack of integration is the problem. Neither are as good a twitter client (for just twitter) as Google Talk. The real-time updates squashes any features these other cleints have. I use Google Talk as my main twitter interface with AlertThingy on the side to track my and other people's social content. At this point the layout of AlertThingy is a little nicer. ...via AlertThingy
- Rolf Schewe
Seems to me AlertThingy is in the lead, and Twhirl is trying to keep up. I like Twirls Twitter features and AlertThingy's friendfeed features, ummm.... ...via AlertThingy
- Ashley Williams
still prefer twhirl. As soon as they can integrate into one window I'm removing AT ...via twhirl
- Ryan
They are both lacking. Until I can either integrate all my follows into FF or filter my Tweeple from FF neither will be perfect. I think that the twhirl team will get there faster as Loic has more resouces. Who knows maybe @snookca will intgrate FF with snitter? ...via twhirl
- Jay Gilmore
Just bvecause you can tweet doen't mean you can read your tweets. this is a non-event. ...via AlertThingy
- Matthew
Twhirl is still better i think. ...via twhirl
- Tina K.J
Why can't we get rid of these via "...." messages. That's the killer for me. I don't care what client someone is using and it's just a distraction. Really not much advertising benefit either.
- Brandon Titus
I agree. I still need to have Twirl for Twitter to be useful at all. ...via AlertThingy
- Ainsworth Boyle
I don't know: I'm liking the possibilities of AThingy; less resource-intense than Twirl. ...via AlertThingy
- Chris Judson
Brandon, the "via .." thing has been fixed. The clients need to update to use it. Check out a preview of how it's going to work here: http://friendfeed.com/e...
- Bwana ☠
i am running the latest version. let's see if the "via.." is fixed. ...via AlertThingy
- Anand Sharma
If you think of the sheer number of useful twitter apps out there in the cloud, it won't take long before they become more seamless. Do you think that Data Portability will become a reality?
- Brian Daniel Eisenberg
"(Twitter) It’s where you meet new people!". I am relatively new to Twitter. I have not yet figured out how exactly you easily meet new people. Probably friend feed is better for that?
- Davide D'Incau
I think Friendfeed provides a much better center for comments, feedback and general interaction with new people. I find twitter just too difficult to follow in terms of the conversation threads. IMHO Twitter is a great micro blog tool for the A-list and a great tool for the average joe to throw stuff out to a small group of friends. I'm dreaming of the day when we have access to everyone's centralized feeds and can comment and interact from within one platform. Friendfeed is moving us a step closer.
- Phil Ashman
I did the same recently. Got rid of a bunch of apps. I'm really not sure what's the point of all of that stuff. I can't figure out if Facebook is a playground or a feed generator.
- Brad Farris
I have noticed the same thing. The basic 2 column layout is very limiting for lots of applications.
- Chris Patterson
same here. I use twhirl to update twitter and Facebook status and FF/Google reader for the rest, not need to get vampire all over anymore!
- Arnaud Fischer
I use twitter to update Facebook and don't login that much either
- Erik Weese
I'm becoming more of a twitter user as of late also, FB gets its updates from my twitterfeed. FB Apps are pointless imo.
- David Smith
I did the same thing. Stripped it down. Haven't been there in a long time. But I will wish I had a good, simple profile somewhere. Always figured I should just make a text one on one of the pages in my blog.
- Bill Bittner
I have flock and now never see the homepage unless im using my phone. I think that is why facebook is not working with flock so well reight now.
- Matthew
Flock is that good...I rarely visit my FB page. It's not really as "stcky" as they think...
- Anthony Farrior
Just wish my FB friends would ditch FB and move to twitter for all its byte sized status update goodness :)
- David Smith
I love getting back in touch with old friends on FB but some of them use some apps whose (constant) feed just bugs the sh*t out of me! Twitter is never that annoying.
- Alex von Halem
i've got other external systems updating my FB profile for me - twitter updates status, last.fm updates what i've been listening to, etc.
- Cole Orton
Cole: I just added FriendFeed onto my profile and deleted the rest of the stuff. FriendFeed aggregates all my stuff together and puts it into one neat and clean box.
- Robert Scoble
Facebook apps are the flash games of 2007/2008, but multi-player, and less interactive. I keep trying, just can't get "into" FB.
- Ken Wallich
I might bite the same bullet Robert did and just have the FriendFeed app in my FB profile. I only like FB for its picture and video sharing between friends tbh.
- David Smith
You can have your FF feed flow into your Mini-feed. Then you don't have to have the FF app on your profile page.
- Bill Bittner
used the hide apps feature instead.. I must agree that Facebook is collecting less of my screen time.. get anything interesting sent to my gmail and reader page.. Go over there a few times but not much!
- Jez Arnold
curious - how are friendfeed comments tracked? are they only on friendfeed? i'm guessing if i click this @reply twitter box - this comment will show up on twitter as well....hmm....maybe i should....cli
- Cole Orton
I also use Flock and rarely go to Faceook. I also read everything on google reader. And I have removed all the apps
- Francine Hardaway
Is there a way to hide/delete all the apps at once, or is it only one at a time?
- Rob
All the time I am spending on Friendfeed is reducing also my time on Facebook. I'm wondering for how many others it is the same. Facebook's "People you may know" is a very nice addition however.
- Alex Hammer
@Rob if you do a google search for facebook cleaner you'll find a greasemonkey script and a couple of other options for wiping out your FB apps. http://snipurl.com/23dfv
- Phil Ashman
Facebook is boring. The cap on contacts is a bad idea as well. I rarely spend time there anymore.
- Thomas Hawk
Facebook is exactly that. A book. Static. FriendFeed is a broadcast. Like a radio station.
- Bill Bittner
Facebook is dependent on the assumption people care about all that information about yourself.
- Bill Bittner
Robert, I think this is the general direction things are moving in. Sadly, it will take time for everyone else to catch-up. I was having a conversation w/ non-geeks last weekend - RSS wasn't even on their radar, nevermind Twitter or FriendFeed.
- Adam Bullied
do you think friendfeed will face the same future as facebook and other formerly (extremely) popular sites? I'm hoping not since I really like ff
- acedanger
I think the whole social networking world is so fluid right now as everyone tries to make it usable for the non-geeks. I would argue Facebook was probably the first to grab what I would call the mainstream down to the Grandma's and Grandpa's. Now we just need FB to open up the use of that community they have built up on facebook. (can you say opensocial..;)...). FB reminds me of skype.
- Phil Ashman
as long as there's thousands of other Scrabble and chess players, I'll be there !
- John Naruwan
Facebook satisfies the voyeur in me..ah ah...I really like the transparency of it. BTW, I was on the CISCO seminar today and quite enjoyed what you had to say Robert. My head is still spinning with ideas there are just so many app. out there that it's quite hard to pick the right one. I'll just have to keep up with your work and that will put me on the right track. Thanks !!
- Chantal
Facebook's got a new interface planned - with tabs - See http://www.facebook.com/Faceboo.... I use social networks for different groups of people. LinkedIn contains 20-30% of my college friends 1982-1990. Facebook only has 3% of my college friends, but a lot of my Tribe.Net dance & burning man friends are moving there. Tribe.Net has the best SF area events. None of my 400 "friends" uses Twitter.
- Mitchell Tsai
Facebook is just so old friends can find me. Some have, most haven't.
- Vince DeGeorge
