@yrathro So if one needs support (from say, an institution) - it's hardly a PERSONAL learning environment. But nor is it a VLE. What is it?
@yrathro Yes, of course. But most either use an institutional VLE, or an institutionally guided PLE.
@yrathro I don't believe most are motivated enough to build their own PLE without support
RT @cnaamani: Creating digital learners is not about technology, it's about challenging them to think.

@sputuk Exactly. So theres another construct. Something between a VLE and PLE. A PLE shaped by an institution, oxymoran/paradox as may be.
@timbuckteeth How i've missed my midnight debates on twitter - have been neglecting slightly lately
@sputuk Should then the institution do nothing, even if it knows unless it requires them to use certain tools they will not use (staff also)
@sputuk The learner does not always know the best way to learn. Sometimes they need to be pushed through doors
@sputuk So, how can it be truly personal if it has been so influenced by the institution?
@sputuk If I show my students tools or services to use, or require them to use them, I (acting as the institution) am building their PLE
@sputuk is there not a middle ground? an institutional PLE? (a paradox i know)
RT @timbuckteeth:The VLE is the best way to get the lecturer's notes into the students' notes without having to pass through two minds first
@timbuckteeth If the institution helps student develop PLE, its not personal?
@timbuckteeth PLE-personal construct-so are we implying the institution should do nothing?
