Duncan's tabs are great. - Louis Gray
Looking forward to diving into the Duncan tabs and now these new ones by Rahsheen, the FF experience just keeps getting better! - michael sean wright
Louis - I check them once in a while to see how many downloads. Bugs me a lot that more people don't use them. Really makes things easy for me and now have them on all the boxes. - Charlie Anzman
Shouldn't all these tabs go into a FriendFeed tabs extension ? - Michael C. Harris
Oh, and I get Google search instead of Google Calendar. - Michael C. Harris
I have been researching the best way to put them all together, but I'm picky. I want an options interface to check/uncheck what you want. Not sure what's up with the search coming up, it happened for me once, but I can't reproduce. Are you logged in? - Rahsheen ™, Coach Rah
I agree option are important. As for the calendar, yes, I'm logged in, and the calendar displays properly in a normal tab. - Michael C. Harris
Thanks for pointing this out, Michael. I made an error in the url (google.com/Calendar instead of /calendar). I just fixed the script so you can download it again. That's what I get for making extensive use of find/replace :) - Rahsheen ™, Coach Rah
Tested, all good. Nice work, Rahsheen :) - Michael C. Harris
Thanks, It's good to be useful sometimes :) - Rahsheen ™, Coach Rah

Social marketing ?!? - Mark Dykeman
Thanks Rob. Maybe I'm more like a nerd...? - Hutch Carpenter
@Mark, can't get to your blog right now getting a "can't find server". But every once in a while you had a social media marketing type post. Maybe I am mistaken and I will post an update/apology. I know I tend to get things confused. - Rob Diana
@Mark, I totally have you confused with someone else. I can't find the blog that I thought had some marketing in it, but definitely is not yours. At least I included the right blog :) - Rob Diana
No big deal, Rob. Just happy to be mentioned! - Mark Dykeman
Do not read the comments on Digg. :-) - Louis Gray
I'm getting way too cocky being on lists like these. But I am glad there are a few willing to read my(often too long) posts. Thanks Rob, you are making it harder for me to live up to expectations this way ;-) - Alexander van Elsas
Hey Rob, I see that this story went FP on Digg - good for you! As a point of interest, since the story went FP about 3 hrs. ago, I've gotten 62 visits to my own site from your post. - Mark Dykeman

Using Causality to Solve the Puzzle of Quantum Spacetime: Scientific American
"How did space and time come about? How did they form the smooth four-dimensional emptiness that serves as a backdrop for our physical world? What do they look like at the very tiniest distances? Questions such as these lie at the outer boundary of modern science and are driving the search for a theory of quantum gravity—the long-sought unification of Einstein's general theory of relativity with quantum theory." - Robert Seidman from Bookmarklet
From the article (social media?): "Similar mechanisms of self-assembly and self-organization occur across physics, biology and other fields of science. A beautiful example is the behavior of large flocks of birds, such as European starlings. Individual birds interact only with a small number of nearby birds; no leader tells them what to do. Yet the flock still forms and moves as a whole. The flock possesses collective, or emergent, properties that are not obvious in each bird's behavior." - Hutch Carpenter
Wikipedia has a basic overview of the idea of emergence: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki... But yeah, given enough micro-systems (like individual friends) performing a set of tasks, eventually a macro-system emerges. Google Trends, TechMeme, and even Friendfeed's "best of" feature visualize that phenomenon in social media. - Mark Trapp
I thought something similar when I read that Hutch. The one difference is (presumably) the flock is trying to do the same thing and get to the same place. But I think if there were a way to get 50,000 people unified around the same cause online, all with the same amount of 'skin in the game', it might turn out similar. Hard part: getting 50K people unified around the same cause to the same degree. - Robert Seidman
There's a great MIT lady physics professor (forget the name at the moment) who's got some great theories. One of the sharpest minds in Physics today...and hot as hell to boot...! - Mitchell Tsai
I like Einstein... but I am more apt to buy Hawkings take that you can't objectify anything. that it can't be seen. "Not only are there dice, but you can't see where they are thrown." G-d is in the details, but obviously Einstein didn't see Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark. Moses had serious sunburn. - Noah David Simon
Robert - that's true. But we might be thinking of 50,000 people too much in the physical sense. Like, we've got to get a massive group together. But the Web and social media are good for letting those 50,000 find one another among the millions of people. There'd need to be some sort of precinct captain, but the 50,000 would voluntarily organize to the cause. They'd find out about things via WOM. - Hutch Carpenter

@Jeremy - the first couple days after they're born, Dads have a ton of time. Once they're home, the real fun begins as Ontario Emperor says. - Hutch Carpenter
@hutch - i've got a 1 year old.. i was being a little facetious. :) - Jeremy Toeman

Those who can FamilyFeed and FriendFeed concurrently are the leaders of the next generation. - Louis Gray
of course, as a dad your duties will be fairly limited anyway, unless you can figure out how to breast-feed -- but there's always diapering :-) - mathew ingram
@Louis - LOL! - Hutch Carpenter
Yep! New borns sleep a lot. But Soon Louis has to get use to of sleeping in installments at night. Infants for first couple of months don't like sleeping at night. ;-) - Vic Podcaster

Is not. :-) - Louis Gray
my wife would have killed me if I had spent time online while at the maternity with her! ;o) - Xavier Bartholome
My wife has stayed married to me for this long. She knew what she was getting into. Besides, post c-section, aside from breast feeding, I _have_ been doing everything else. Matthew is fairly well bonded to me at this point, and she hasn't yet had to change a diaper. I'm sure this will all even out in the end. Looking forward to getting Sarah back with us, probably by end of day. She's a touch under 4 lbs. at this point, so we're watching close. - Louis Gray
@Louis, At least you have a really good excuse for not sleeping now. - Rob Diana
I hope you didn't take my comment negatively ... It was meant to be. Of course you're helping. Otherwise you wouldn't be there with her at all. I think Sarah will get her weight back, they always go down a bit in the beginning. - Xavier Bartholome

Great screencast-- I hadn't used hides before. I have mixed feelings on the UI, especially the number of options for "friend-of-friends." I also think pushing hidden items to the bottom might not be discoverable enough. But whatever - awesome. - jakebf
Very helpful to see how this was intended to be used. Thanks! - RyanEs
Hope Ross spends his whole internship making videos (Dan, too) to explain how to use all FF features. This is especially helpful for mainstreamers like me who pose as early adopters. - Anne Bouey
