I know because the first thing to get knocked out was power to our building, couple hrs before the storm really hit, and because of this, it triggered our building's fire alarm, which can only be shut off by the fire department. I called but they couldn't come. By the way, an FYI, a building's fire alarm battery back up system lasts for at least 6 hours. Having a blaring alarm made things so much worse.
