"democratic roots of the system" Which system? Iran? What democratic roots? It's a theocracy that doesn't respect the basic human rights of women or minorities. Andrew Sullivan seems so wrapped up in the emotional images of good people risking their lives for their votes to be counted that he's not seeing the truth. Yes, watching people risk their lives for their vote is moving. But that doesn't make this a revolution. Mousavi said: "There's a danger ahead. A ruling system which relied on people's trust for 30 years cannot replace this trust with security forces overnight." As one can see, he's an insider. I'll say it again: the Iranians are fighting to install a leader who wants to keep the current system of government. It will still be a theocracy. It will still have a religious "supreme leader". Someone wake me when Iran has a real revolution. The sad part about this is that more than a few people protesting and risking their lives might think Mousavi will be radically different...
