@surya_s I've always believed people, process and automation are ascending rungs of superior ops. Thats the right direction.

@sallamar the link still doesn't work (even when logged in) .. and can't even find the book using search .. can't yet download the new ver.
A mail from 2003 which explains why digest authentication and one way hash storage of passwords on servers wont work http://www.mail-archive.com/jdev@ja...
Theres simply no way to use a one way hash password stored in database with digest / 2 legged OAuth authentication. Is there ?

#selflearning_for_the_day .. you're a complete dolt if you don't have all equality testing methods nailed down before writing test cases
@arunsark I agree .. not sure if it would be my preferred choice .. but was an interesting reading nevertheless
@codemonkeyism seems to me the interesting challenge here would be to retire and remove flags and flippers just as aggressively.

@davetron5000 @psnively - imo main issue with dyn typ is not size, it can be managed. Refactoring is harder & Comprehensive test cases reqd.
@davetron5000 @psnively I'm afraid more often than not it more effectively shows how poor a programmer I am than how readable code I write
@davetron5000 @psnively I've always found that argument hard to buy. How is a 500KLOC project different than 10 * 50KLOC projects
@psnively python is so incredibly powerful (many other langs as well, Lisp even more so), one better start breaking down a project ..contd..
@psnively yet if todays experience with using tens of open source projects is any guide - that complexity is today being managed by division
@psnively I really really find it hard (nah! impossible) to imagine what it would take to have a 500KLOC Python codebase.
@psnively ..contd.. into multiple subprojects with clear APIs by the time one reaches the 10K mark. Any other way is self defeating.
@psnively thats a very fair statement .. but its readability = f(reader) is kinda tough to convince others of post a code review :)
@davetron5000 ROFL! /cc @psnively (re: wtf does ~ mean)
@dhinchcliffe would it be fair to imagine this characterisation of WOA is a bit of a shift away from SOA (compared to earlier writings)?
@psnively One thing I confess I've not understood is your strong preference for type safety. I don't miss it a whole lot when writing python
@psnively though I don't intend that to start another debate which has been debated widely enough :) am just expressing a perspective
@psnively readibility:reader, saleability:buyer, robustness:user have the same relationship. imo true only given an atypical perspective.
@psnively Why so ? I can imagine it being quite useful when say building yahoo pipes kinda stuff. re: good scala not going that far
@KentBeck Interesting. I can think of a defect hunt somewhere along the lines of a treasure hunt. But can we do games for refactoring too ?
