I already have. But you're the only one who listens to me here.
- Scott Jangro
My tipping point in favor of FF wasn't this Twitter outage, but the BuddyFeed app on the iPhone. Great little piece of software.
- Sam Harrelson
I'm there .. What Iphone app do you like. Is BuddyFeed the way to go?
- Joe Magennis
Cleaning up my following list here now so I can make the move. Yep, on BuddyFeed.
- Sam Harrelson
Ha ,, beat me with the recommendation. On the desktop I have the Friendfeed notifier running all the time. Love it.
- Joe Magennis
I've got FF running through GMail's IM integration. Makes me pine for the good old days before Twitter sold out :) Now if FF would just enable its search/Track feature within the IM client, I'd be a happy man.
- Sam Harrelson

I haven't actively used FF in ages. Took a while to load, guessing their servers are getting hit due to Twitter and Facebook going down. I went to CNN to see if there was a Social Media virus, but got the word on Mashable that it's unknown.
- Mike Buechele
Whatever it is, it's fun (for us... not the poor developers). This will certainly raise some questions about mission critical social sites, etc.
- Sam Harrelson
Raises major questions ... I am seeing some sarcasm, ho hums, derogatory comments aimed at Twitter (especially non-users) .. But this is a much bigger situation than just not being able to stay connected to a follower base. Without a doubt we are heading towards ubiquitous live web connectivity and reliance on these services for news, communication .. hell, even critical medical...
- Joe Magennis
Good points... so is the answer open-source federated micro-messaging clients (many little Twitters/laconi.cas)? Having everything go through one company doesn't seem like the right answer.
- Sam Harrelson
And of course, along with those federated clients we'd have to make twitter a protocol akin to IMAP or POP :)
- Sam Harrelson
yup .. it's why I was so interested in the early developments of Identi.ca (& why I miss the Gilmor Gang talking about this stuff).
- Joe Magennis
from BuddyFeed
no doubt. hey, we should do a podcast :)
- Sam Harrelson
Wow, that is great news. Though I was looking forward to what Opera would say when their market share didn't go up.
- Steve de Mena
from twhirl
The tides have certainly turned....I am not convinced though that the solution will see any major Market share increase for Opera or Firefox. That's not to say they don't have a good product, but the novices out there are just not really up on them; so will most likely stick with what they know - for better or worse.
- Clifford Kennedy
Personally, I feel that Microsoft should be heavily encouraged to run rampant in the EU, It's in the US I want them to be tied down and nailed to thee floor in. :-)
- Car Camper
The whole case shows the EU is off it's meds again. But at least awareness of different browsers will increase.
- Roberto Bonini
from iPhone
I sure as hell want that I get my full retail package for the upgrade price. Whether it is 7E or not. And for the record, the EU can do whatever the hell it likes, I couldn't care less if IE was included.
- Jody Fanning
I like having each service as an individual contact. Much easier. Can we see the same for Pownce?
- Chris Nixon
Well, IMified has taken bot to a next level.. I even created a customized option to check my google calendar appointments for today (a quick schedule for today) by interacting with bot! Not sure, if they have one for Pownce..

One year later. Just bumping this because it's the one year anniversary of the only item on FriendFeed to get more than 400 likes. (452 at the moment)
- Ken Sheppardson
Ok, this is a SIMPLE proof of concept of my twitter/FF importer. I hope to do a better job of having this script search for Unknown users. I am interested in y'alls feedback. (PS I know it is UGLY) - http://www.spyndle.com/Twitter...
cool toy but didn't work for me. I got this: Warning: file_get_contents(http://...@twitter.com/statuse...) [function.file-get-contents]: failed to open stream: HTTP request failed! HTTP/1.1 400 Bad Request in /home/steppek/public_html/Spyndle/TwitterFF/index.php on line 54

- Thomas Hawk
I am working on it now. I think it is because of the API Rate Limit.
- Kreg Steppe
looking forward to this if you can get it working :)
- Thomas Hawk
Ah, the good ol' Twitter API rate limit. Twitter Karma knows it all too well. :-(
- Dossy Shiobara
Dude... you rock! Worked like a charm. Like you stated, it's iffy, but iffy-or-not, it saved me a LOT of work! Nice job!
- Kevin Devin
Nice, worked. Not fully automatic, but it's a good start. Keep it up, Kreg!
- Mark Trapp
hmmm.. still not working for me. Getting the same error code above. Maybe I've got too many contacts.
- Thomas Hawk
After I waited a bit, I got it to run again. I had to wait out my API limit. Thomas, try it again in the AM after you haven't used Twitter in a while.
- Kreg Steppe
hmmm... still not working for me this morning. Maybe Twitter's still mad about the whole shark eating the fail whale thing. Same error request above and I've posted nothing to Twitter in over 12 hours.
- Thomas Hawk
Sorry Thomas... that's the TH filter that Kreg put in place. ;-)
- Kevin Devin
Wasn't able to try it last night, but just did. Got five warnings (similar to above) but under that was a nice long list of results. :)
- Kevin C. Tofel
Tried it .Liked it. Worked. Added a few new people on FFd (to avoid confusion with Firefox)
- Dom Barnes
I'll spend some time working on this later...now I must work. I'll send out a new message when I have some progress. Not sure about your problem Thomas.
- Kreg Steppe
from twhirl
i think it is hitting an api limit - "Warning: file_get_contents(http://...@twitter.com/statuse...) [function.file-get-contents]: failed to open stream: HTTP request failed! HTTP/1.1 502 Bad Gateway in /home/steppek/public_html/Spyndle/TwitterFF/index.php on line 54"
- Chris Harris
also a cool feature would be a select all and subscribe checkboxes next to each name. i was on page 4 and already had 50+ users on FF not subscribed to hehe.
- Chris Harris
cool, working well for me. Thanks. Glad I saw this.
- Nathan Rein
Chris: I am looking at the subscribing feature now....I think I need to use something other than the API. I didn't see that in the documentation.
- Kreg Steppe
The Ruby thing I looked at was using API for most stuff and reverting to parameters in a post to a form page for actually subscribing to FF people.
- Dave Slusher
I was thinking something along those lines Dave. Forming a HTTP Post from a script.
- Kreg Steppe
I think I have it figured out. Will see if I can work on it later tonight.
- Kreg Steppe
