Dave, I don't necessarily agree with everything you post (and I hide a lot of it) but I really, really appreciate and respect that you back up your textual passion with your pocketbook. Not a whole lot of people can say that they do. - Akiva Moskovitz
I'll raise u 100 x's 2 that I won at a poker tournament. - adolfo foronda
I've donated $75 so far. Will probably do more this month. - Graham English
$100 to Obama as well. He's raised $8 million in 24 hours after Palin and expected to hit $10 million before McCain takes the stage. The republicans: raised $1 million in the last 24 hrs - Grant Gochnauer
I stopped giving directly to candidates when I found they spent all my money soliciting me for more money. I wanted a better use of my money. PAC's seem to do a better job of using my money. - Roland Smith via twhirl
Can't quite do a hundred, but I did donate to Obama today. - Cheryl Rice
I gave $100 immediately after Palin's speech and then another $50 this morning. I am 25 years old and this is all that I can give but I felt it needed to be done. - Johan Lieu
I'm waiting to give $100 during McCain's speech. - Jody C
"Ann Kilkenny, a Democrat who said she attended every City Council meeting in Ms. Palin’s first year in office, said Ms. Palin brought up the idea of banning some books at one meeting. “They were somehow morally or socially objectionable to her,” Ms. Kilkenny said.
The librarian, Mary Ellen Emmons, pledged to “resist all efforts at censorship,” Ms. Kilkenny recalled. Ms. Palin fired Ms. Emmons shortly after taking office but changed course after residents made a strong show of support. Ms. Emmons, who left her job and Wasilla a couple of years later, declined to comment for this article." - don loeb
yep. it's true that Sarah Palin should be taken seriously, but the focus should stay on McCain's character. see "Forgetting Sarah Palin--It's McCain's CHARACTER, Stupid!" http://bit.ly/37L3Og - ~C4Chaos
The 3rd and 4th points are basically the same. But all Presidents and VP's need OTJ Trainin. Sen Obama and Sen B iden will need it if they are elected. Sen McCain and Sen Palin will need it if they are. - ChiliMac via twhirl
My first reaction to the news was WTF? Now I find myself curious to find out more about Palin and what she is bringing to this election campaign. I have no idea how she can impact the demographics, especially for women voters and working-class blokes. Something tells me she is very bright, very quick. and effective. I also don't want her within arms-length of appointing Supremes or advancing other strongly-held conservative/fundamentalist policies. McCain never had my vote, and still doesn't, but I am eager to see how Palin responds to this opportunity and continues on the public scene. - Dennis E. Hamilton
Dang. Now the Republicans have secured those all important Alaska electoral vote (s?) - Steve Follmer via twhirl
Ya worried Dave? How about a President who has never managed any city or state? - Thomas Capote via twhirl
I wasn't worried but now that McCain has locked down those 3 electoral votes (out of 538) I have really broken out in a cold sweat. Ya gotta hand it to McCain nobody saw this coup coming... - Steve Follmer via twhirl
Yeah, and let's not forget, how about a President Obama who was never runner up for Miss Alaska or never won Miss Congeniality. I am sure thinking now that someone like Palin nee Wasilla, those skills could really turn the tide in Iraq or Georgia... - Steve Follmer via twhirl
"I'd love to hear some enterprising political reporter who travels with the McCain campaign to ask the senator, "In the event of a tragedy or national calamity, and a President McCain were unable to carry out his duties, who does John McCain believe is the single best, most trustworthy, most capable, most reliable person in the entire United States to lead the free world?"" exactly! i've been watching GOP talking heads on TV but nobody can answer this question with a straight face. go figure. - ~C4Chaos
.Sarah Palin [profile] abortion- animal rights- big oil+ Christian fundamentalism+ Christian Zionism- creationism+ environmentalism- global warming activism- hunting+ intelligent design+ Iraq War~ Israel? neoconservatism- Patrick Buchanan+ Ron Paul+ science- - Sean McBride
Chaos - the Legally Blonde factor -- never underestimate it. - Sean McBride
Instead of jumping to the question of who is most qualified if the president dies, how about we still try to answer who the most qualified President would be? Obama still isn't it, and Biden doesn't make up for that short-coming by any means. - Ernie Oporto
Vote on my picture of Alice Waters, wonderful chef, resteraunteur, and leader of the slow food movement. Let's get it included in the next issue of JPG magazine! Just takes 30 seconds of your time, click on the photo, and vote! - David Sifry via Bookmarklet

I am also curious. Have had some trouble lately especially after trying out adsense for feeds, but otherwise, not seen trouble as such. Posts show up quickly and all that - Deepak
all folks need to do is ping feedburner...there isn't a problem here. - don loeb
For once I'll have to agree with Gabe, but two things: lack of alternatives and we're also locked in via feedburner.com feeds. - Duncan Riley
Don, most major publishers Techmeme deals with have had problems. Gawker blogs, TechCrunch, SAI, AllThingsD, etc. at times have had their posts delayed. Usually they didn't even know it was happening, but were upset when they found out. Why is the failure rate so high here? Couldn't you be more proactive in publicizing the issue? - Gabe Rivera
"The night’s theme will be “Securing America’s Future: Tribute to Veterans, Active Duty Military, and Military Families.” Obama’s VP candidate will be the “headline prime-time speaker.”" - Dave Winer via Bookmarklet
I doubled down on my Wes Clark Inkling market investment. - Kevin
No chance. This guy would guarantee a loss. Clinton is going to ruin their chances anyway with her shenanigans at the convention. - Jim Bednarz
I just looked at a bunch of betting sites, and this one is the easiest to read, it has Clark at 4-1, not by any means the longest shot. http://politicalbetting.bestbe... - Dave Winer
I've still got to think Evan Bayh could be the surprise guy. He's been working his mojo for a couple of years now. Keep an eye on him. - Mark Edwards
Clark has already proven to be an oppertunist and turncoat; a less than ideal running mate, but a awful choose for VP - Robert Hafer
come to think of it, that's why Obama doesn't want Clinton. Imagine 4 years of her plotting to get you thrown out so she can take over. - Robert Hafer
Because Clark is mental and almost started WWIII by being such an idiot. Please, oh please make him the VP to ensure a McCain win! Google is your friend: wesley clark world war iii - Andrew Leyden
this is the right strategy. maybe three-four years too late (we pitched this back then), but it's a start... - don loeb
"I think it’s also one advantage they have over Google and others in advertising relationship is the ability to create partnerships that go beyond just direct monetization to provide value to publishers in many ways." Isn't this what Google does with its own News site as well as Book Search? - Michael Leggett
