Re: Why you are thinking all wrong about customer experience: a data driven answer to what customers really care about2 - EPiServer - http://www.episerver.com/epiui...
"Great post! On the last example, I just wanted to clarify something. While the bounce measurement in red is identified as a problem, it's important to put it into perspective that analytics won't ever get in the heads of your visitors. Your site could be referenced incorrectly and visitors may be bouncing because of something outside of your control. Your site could be getting a lot of bot hits, or you could be showing up on irrelevant search results, or you may have a one-page site that doesn't require people navigate deeper. It's worth the look, but not necessarily something that requires 'fixing'. Many people do visit sites, find exactly what they need, and then leave. That's not a bad bounce, that's a very successful one!" - Douglas Karr

Re: The Pitchforks Are Coming… For Us Plutocrats - http://www.politico.com/magazin...
"It's easy to say when you're in the 0.01%. Most business owners aren't there... in fact, many are mingling above poverty rates. So when you say let's enact a law that requires every employee cost more to the business by 100%, and you tack on the employment taxes and social security (another 7.5%), you're going to put many small businesses out of business. What happens when small business goes out of business? You rich bastards get richer. Of course you want to minimize the competition so you can buy another plane or boat. Screw you." - Douglas Karr

Re: Visual Content: The Key to Effective Brand Storytelling - http://contentmarketinginstitute.com/2014...
"My point isn't to argue with the importance of aesthetics - we've expanded our use of video, infographics, diagrams, photos, etc. significantly given the demand for that content. My point was simply that it's not enough and some testing has proven that great content that lacks imagery performs better at times with image-rich content that lacks a documentation. In other words - visuals are incredibly important for attraction - but may not be AS important as the accompanying documentation when you hope to convert the visitor." - Douglas Karr

"No mention of conversions? While aesthetics are very important to attraction, memory and explanation - many times people convert well with outstanding prose and little imagery. I think both are essential to a balanced content strategy." - Douglas Karr

Re: Not Just Ferguson: 11 Eye-Opening Facts About America’s Militarized Police Forces - http://billmoyers.com/2014...
"It would be nice if that's the way it worked. But power doesn't work that way. You can't have the good without the bad - especially in this country. Try to touch the military industrial machine and you'll have both unions and the right beating the hell out of you. IMO, the only means of making it happen is to force our leaders to get back to a surplus and wind down the debt. They shouldn't be able to borrow money on our future - then spend it on tanks that they then sell to local police forces." - Douglas Karr
