As a self-proclaimed pancake expert, I don't think this stands up at all. Basically he just identified factors that affect deviations from ideal. He makes no quantitative observations on what ideal is. Snake oil salesman!

I know '05 was a couple of years ago, but while many of my class of 600 or so admired Goog and would no doubt enjoy the bacon, I'd bet very few ended up there because Goog just doesn't need that many. Vast majority still go to banking and consulting. That said, I did interview with MSFT. They asked me how I would design a stereo for a deaf person.
