FriendFeed/WordPress question: I get my best response when my FF shares have pictures, nice titles, and a comment or two from me to kick off discussion. These targeted shares destroy bland auto-shares from my RSS feeds. Do the FF/WP integration plugins allow you to juice up your shares like this?
Look at the difference in interaction there: I'm getting a near 0% hit rate on the RSS and closer to 100% on native FF shares!

So here's what I want to see in a WP/FF integration plugin: Let me massage the initial shares in order to make them most interesting to FF users. After that, the WP plugin should come behind me and automatically reshare the FF/WP comments back and forth like they already do.
- Daniel J. Pritchett
The key point is that automated shares are terrible at generating interest but manual shares don't sync future comments between FF and the blog. Can this be done?
- Daniel J. Pritchett
I thought you could edit the link under Manage Posts in the FriendFeed Comments section, but it provides only a drop-down. That could have been a temporary fix.

I'm not on WP just yet, Rahsheen. I'm just thinking out loud here. We had some good discussion at #BCMem this weekend about the comment-generating power of DISQUS vs. FriendFeed and some other tools. Obviously you can run them all at once but it's good to figure out how to start a good conversation every time you step up to the plate.
- Daniel J. Pritchett
Probably so, Rahsheen. I haven't noticed the one at RWW being cooler than the ones elsewhere, maybe they just wrote it a while ago and haven't kept up with the new hotness?
- Daniel J. Pritchett
The FriendFeed Comments plugin has pretty much been static since it came out. RWW had some custom thing done a while back, or something. I have thought about hacking the FFComments plugin myself, but I keep expecting Disqus or ID to step up to the plate. I'm not sure why Disqus is dragging their feet on this.
- Rahsheen ™, Coach of FF
Amen! I just tweeted @danielha at DISQUS to show him the interest in this thread. Maybe we can move this up his priority list for feature development.

FriendFeed's import system is horrific, I can't seriously get into using FF because no pictures or videos show up from my feeds.
- Bjorn Stromberg
@Bjorn: Definitely a good opportunity here for FF to expand the options for plain RSS importing. I'd like to see the 1st picture come through as well as the ability for the profile owner to edit the post after the fact. This is why most of my good stuff is a native FF post: I can pick and choose exactly what comes in and make sure it's got the right mix of interesting content to start a discussion. An RSS headline with no pic isn't as powerful.
- Daniel J. Pritchett
@Daniel I have seen an image come through once on a blogspot post, but Tumblr posts don't come through and that should be the absolute simplest platform to identify the image or video embed. A website full of text is mostly meaningless to me, put a photo in there and now we've got something.
- Bjorn Stromberg
Yeah, I've been pretty slack on updates to the plugin for the last few months. My wife's been pregnant & we were buying a house for the first time. Baby is now born and house moved into so I'm hoping to get some updates done.
- Glenn Slaven
Are you wanting the ability to include images from the post, because I think that could be done fairly simply?
- Glenn Slaven
Maybe it could pick up the excerpt & put that in as the first comment
- Glenn Slaven
Glenn, I'd like to see the images in the post brought straight over to FriendFeed through my RSS stream. I read that FF is supposed to support MediaRSS but I haven't managed to work it out yet. The only real feature request I can think of for you is to pull in comments from all items in my FF stream that link to the post rather than just the direct RSS item.
- Daniel J. Pritchett
Although I am not on WP yet, this thread continue to motivate me. I noticed that about RSS streams not having pictures and that it is hard to differentiate them. The long way seems to post another pic on the FF entry with a small comment and see if that draws interest. An automatic "pull" would be nice.
