We run Sharepoint 3.0 and Lotus Notes/Sametime. I'm sure I could set up an FF room or a Yammer group or something but I can't see my team getting into it. I need a way to start small but I still want to jump straight into microblogging.

At work, we actually have setup a private friendfeed room for our team. Typically, the documents themselv we put on our fileserver or wiki, depending on what it is about, and announce/spread it to the team via our friendfeed room. Works amazingly well. Off course, since friendfeed is not behind our firewall, we do not put all our stuff in the room, but still, this room quickly became a replacement for mail for us.

That's inspiring, Nick. I'm not sure I'd be able to drive that sort of change here: Nearly 100k employees, median age seems to be far above my 27.

Thanks. Our team here is only 7 people, but the use of friendfeed for internal use is slowly but steadily spreading throughout the rest of the organization. We also use private friendfeed rooms for collaboration in European research projects with partners, and as such like ff very much because of its simplicity, ease of use and integration with e.g. igoogle.
