I think Facebook might have actually just killed Data Portability. If this takes off due to the massive number of existing Facebook apps, Facebook connect really has a good chance to become the defacto data portability standard. Open Social has fallen out of the gates time and time again, it will be interesting to see how many platform partners will decide to support both and see who comes out on top. I think since Facebook Connect ultimately gives social networks and applications the ability to do more with the data when compared to Friend Connect, the package of the platform and data portability standard may be too much resist. - Devlin Dunsmore
