what if it's a disgruntled employee with access to the account? that would be even cooler
- Nathan Chase
ZOMG - take it to the Really Gay Room. On second thought, we don't really want Bill O Riley - keep him here on the home thread.
- Sparky
41 minutes and counting. It's on TC now. You think somebody's home at Fox News?
- Jared Smith
I think it's a fake account. I saw one the other day for 20th Century Fox talking about how no one wants to see the Watchmen movie and how "great" some of their crappy movies have been. There's also a fake Michael Bay one floating around.
- James Ferguson
oh there's nothing funnier than the thought of papa bear o'reilly gettin it up the rear from some big hairy queeny guy...i love it :-)
- Cardeen Martinez
"My grief carries no desire for revenge, which I know to be always in vain. But, in truth, as a grieving son, I am finding it hard to distinguish between what the Israelis call terrorists and the Israeli pilots and tank crews who are invading Gaza. What is the difference between the pilot who blew my father to pieces and the militant who fires a small rocket? I have no answers but, just as I am to become a father, I have lost my father."

Those farmers elected a terror organization as their leaders. What do you expect to happen when you elect a terror organization to lead you?
- Amit Morson
Maybe when the terror organization is perceived as the only one organized enough to provide basic infrastructure and fight your oppressors then you want them to keep doing what their doing.
- Chris Saad
Of course, that is only if you are a desperate, ignored people living in refugee camps and ignored by the rest of the world.
- Chris Saad
Duncan I have nothing against the Arab people. Many Arab people are very good people. When I went to Israel I ate with Palestinian people. That was in 1985. Now when I go to Israel I eat with Arab Israelis. Israel's fight is not with the Arabs but with terrorists.
- Igor The Troll יִצְחָק
Amit, sorry, but your attitude bloody stinks mate. God forbid you make a mistake on a ballot and your family gets blown to pieces for it. Is that how you would console someone who just lost a family member?
- Mo Kargas
Amit, read the article. Here's a guy who actually DIDN'T VOTE FOR HAMAS.
- Duncan Riley
Mo, my attitude is pragmatic, it's not republican vs. democrat, it's a terror organization who openly declared what they are going to do. Did anyone anywhere thought that Israel would sit still after more than 6000 rockets were shot at it?
- Amit Morson
I give up - I'm leaving this subject alone - it's like pissing into the wind
- Chris Saad
Regretfully, we have to live by the sword even these days. People are getting killed everywhere - In Iraq, In India, In Israel, In the Palestinian territories, in Asia, in South America, and mainly in Africa. If citizens of this planet could just initiate a worldwide promotion that tells their leaders we are satiated from wars, we might start something positive. People can make peace between each other, leaders just can't.
- Nir Ben Yona
So your "pragmatic attitude" allows for collective punishment - shelling, aerial bombardment, tanks, phosphor attacks against a largely civilian population which can't defend themselves? And smirk when people lose family members? How is that attitude different to Hamas terrorists?
- Mo Kargas
Duncan, no one is pleased by innocent people getting killed. At least the Israeli army is making an effort not to hurt the population. The Palestinian intentionally target civilians. Even worse, they time their lunch during school breaks in an attempt to hit children while they are outside.
- Amit Morson
+100 Nir Ben Yona -- I would be very happy if People decided to make peace.
- Robert Miller
"At least the Israeli army is making an effort not to hurt the population". With artillery? Naval bombardment ? Right.
- Mo Kargas
Yes, what do you want them to use? Water guns?
- Amit Morson
Whatever. As this draws on, it looks more and more like Hamas is a convenient excuse for Israel to decimate Gaza. The response is pure bloodthirst and disregard for life. The fact that you are so callous about unarmed families being blown to pieces says a lot about your regard for life. Do I mistake the cause? Or is it just general hate and disdain? You cannot summon any sympathy for the massively disproportionate death toll? Disgusting.
- Mo Kargas
Amit do not waste time with Mo Kargas. He is for democracy as long as you agree with him. If you do not, he will deny you freedom of speech and block you! FAIL
- Igor The Troll יִצְחָק
So the lives of Palestinians mistakenly killed by Israeli troops matter and the lives of Israeli citizens who are targeted on purpose do not? I didn't hear you say anything when more than 6000 rockets were hitting Israeli cities and Israel did nothing.
- Amit Morson
There's nothing "mistaken" about shelling homes en masse, unless you live in a fantasy world. As for the rockets, I've condemned them, and other terrorist attacks countless times. You still have to justify why homemade rocket attacks by bands of loons somehow equates into mass murder of non-combatants, mass destruction of property and infrastructure. Launching a war against a mostly civilian population. All it will do is strengthen Hamas. Surely Israel knows this?
- Mo Kargas
Wow, you condemned terrorist acts, now that's solves the problem. Only if Hamas could hear you condemn them they would surly stop shooting rockets at cities and blow up buses. You are a victim of Hamas propaganda. They are not coming out of their hiding to fight and protect their population, they are hiding among the population. They are shooting from within schools and mosques.
- Amit Morson
All that I can say is that people are getting killed on both sides that shouldn't. That makes me ill just thinking about it. *sigh* I think both sides are at fault for this whole issue.
- Molly, "sorry"
@Mo: No disrespect, but believe me that people out of the region have no idea about the situation. I'm more than convinced that every country on this planet would have done the same, even worse. Can you imagine your children living in fear and horror for so many years? would you like your family to live in anxiety because a bunch of terrorists constantly attacking them? It is the duty of every nation to protect its citizens. Regretfully the Hamas is a terror organization who hides within innocent civilians,
- Nir Ben Yona
And using them as human shields. No one wants to see the horrible images from both sides. Without getting into operational issues, Israel is using the "deterrence effect" in order to convey the message that it won't tolerate such activity in the future and Enough is Enough. It worked in Lebanon, as the Hizballa is not daring to launch any missile since 2006 and it suppose to work here as well in order to achieve long lasting cease fire. Most important, is to give humanitarian aid to those who suffer.
- Nir Ben Yona
Nir we need to educate people and destroy the Hamas propoganada. Thank you
- Igor The Troll יִצְחָק
Nir Ben Yona: My family lived in constant fear of, and were killed by, brutal French occupiers, then later Islamist terrorist attacks. Both were equally evil, though the former was more devastating. You're right though, this tit for tat stuff is never going to work. But I still cannot rubber-stamp the scale of the devastation, or the callousness for the loss of life on either side.
- Mo Kargas
Have to agree with Molly. Point I would make: I shared this post because it was well written, moving, and just sad. If your hatred of the other side is such that you can't see this mans feelings in this article, fuck off my friendfeed threads. Amit, humanity is clearly foreign to you. The dark side of me hopes to fuck that you all blow each other off the face of the planet and let the rest of us get on with it.
- Duncan Riley
... and what about a Palestinian state and the secured existence of Israeli? Everyone seems to be busy blaming each other rather than sorting out why both sides keep lobbing rockets at each other... and before you say anything about 'but they did it first', both sides are to blame, EQUALLY. Get over it and find a solution...
- Johnny Worthington
If you were in power, Mo, how would you solve the problem?
- Mattb4rd
Israel wants international monitoring force in Gaza. Hamas must accept this!
- Igor The Troll יִצְחָק
@Mo I'm sorry to hear that. I hope you'll have a peaceful life without any further killings. Damn, maybe we should turn the TV off.
- Nir Ben Yona
I really wish there was a way to block people on FriendFeed - you would be the first to go troll
- Chris Saad
@Nir Ben Yona: Thanks, I hope so too. I do understand the Israeli point of view, there's nothing more hateful than terrorism. I just don't understand the response. @Mattb4rd I believe the problem is one that won't be solved by any entrenched leadership, but by dialogue and connections between peoples. If I was in power I would be supporting that. But with two equally hardened people baying for each others blood it will be a long battle. Hard people are brittle and shatter, strong people endure
- Mo Kargas
Duncan, thanks for sharing the article. A very touching peace. Maybe you can publish an article about People in Shderot and their lives under Qassam rockets.
- Igor The Troll יִצְחָק
Why not examine history and learn from it? Historically, when there was a conflict, what immediately preceded times of peace? Victory for one and defeat for the other. For the fighting to end, one of these factions must achieve victory.
- Mattb4rd
I thought that was phosphorus I was seeing in the news footage. This is really bad stuff. It's intended to create smoke and fires to shield troop movements. But it'll burn right through flesh. It's amazing that Israel is using this stuff in an urban setting -- in full view of the world.

The position of the Israeli government has always been "USA is our best friend, so we can do whatever the hell we want, and we'll get away with it." Sadly, that's not far from the mark at all.
- Chris, Taskerrific Guy
@Mo: I don't like the behavior, but my like brings it to the attention of more people and that is important.
- AJ Kohn
Yeah... For some things, the verb "like" just doesn't seem at all appropriate. Unfortunately, it's all we got from the FF team at the moment.
- Chris, Taskerrific Guy
The violence is massively disproportionate, and a such I can't see it as anything else but making a civilian population pay for Hamas in blood, and the loss of more infrastructure.
- Mo Kargas
It's beyond vengeance. What Israel is currently doing is barely one step below beginning a direct genocide against the Gazans.
- Chris, Taskerrific Guy
The way I see it, Israel is making the civilian population pay for voting Hamas in, as well as trying to hunt down Hamas members. Not saying this is right. Just because your neighbors don't like you does not give you the right to try to obliterate them. This goes for the Israelis as well as their neighbors.
- Helen Sventitsky
This act is an example of self-defence. if your know different, change your mind!
- Hüseyin Mert
Using phosphorus shells against civilians isn't self defense.
- Chris Baskind
Hell, it's not even an act of war. It's an act of terrorism, and state sponsored at that.
- Chris, Taskerrific Guy
I'd guess they aren't being used deliberately as a weapon against civilians, though the fact that some civilians are being injured/killed by them may not give the IDF pause.
- Chrimmus Tad
I don't like this either. This looks more like the opposite to self defense.
- Chris Loft
@Tad I could say I'm dropping napalm to clear a forest too
- Mo Kargas
As I've stated before, use of violence by either side will not end this conflict unless one side manages to commit genocide.
- Chrimmus Tad
Are you kidding! Killing children and mothers is also self-defence. Moreover, babies should shoot from their pre-terrorist-brains. (my ironic comments, Fuck you israel!)
- Hüseyin Mert
The IDF used cluster bombs in areas with large child populations in Lebanon so this should not be a surprise. They take task of defending themselves in the most vigorous way possible as right, regardless of standards of anyone else. They keep the press out to the greatest extent possible as part of the public relations game, much better just to show the "Gosh-Gee-Whiz" shots aerial shots of terrorist buildings being destroyed. Further, invasions are messy business & most of the world does not care to see.
- David HC Soul
I've gotta close the browser now, this is really upsetting me.
- Jason Wehmhoener
At this point, if civilians are still out and about, they don't realize they're in the middle of a war.
- Gus
Where the hell are they going to go, Gus? It's the most populated part of the world, and the Israelis keep them penned in like farm animals ready for slaughter.
- Chris, Taskerrific Guy
Buddha weeps. Jesus weeps. Moses weeps. Muhammad weeps.
- Chrimmus Tad
Chris, not just the Israelis. The Egyptians too.
- Chrimmus Tad
Oh. I thought it was a pair of albino Flying Spaghetti Monsters.
- Akiva Moskovitz
I pray that no one else is injured or killed in this conflict and that both sides will walk away from it in peace.
- Chrimmus Tad
Nothing is relevant other than the violence. Nothing productive can occur until it ceases completely.
- Chrimmus Tad
In agreement with the Oslo Accords, yes, directeur. Signed by Arafat and Rabin. Do some research on what Arafat said about it afterward.
- Akiva Moskovitz
I can GIVE my brother something he already has. It'd be the same as those accords.
- Chris, Taskerrific Guy
"Ownership" doesn't write a blank cheque to send tanks and burning phosphor against civilians.
- Mo Kargas
BOTH parties are to blame, and an immediate ceasefire should be done, and obeyed.
- ◄ani625Ξ
ani625 makes a good point. What is more important, that you feel vindicated in your opinion or that you hope (and pray, if that's something that you do) that both sides find peace with each other as soon as possible?
- Akiva Moskovitz
Obviously any agreement or ceasefire is not going to work to save some lives. The only not-tried-before option is a UN intervention, but US vetoing everything against Israel's actions in Security Council will probably take the world to something much bigger. WW3 is coming, don't you feel it?
- Enver ALTIN
You don't need an eagle eye to see what this may do some good. Apparently Arab world sits back and enjoys oil prices climbing towards $100 a barrel, watch for it. Killed Gazans are good for everyone's pocket, it seems. I'm really sick of this oil play.
- Enver ALTIN
Hamas missiles just hit an Israeli kindergarten. Where are you Mr.Chris Charabaruk? Where are you? Probably sitting in a tranquil room with a coconut drink, lecturing to those who really fight. I bet you've never faced terror attacks and you've never lived under fear and horror. Stop the crap and don't bully us with stupid genocide accusations. If you really care why don't you come to the area and assist the people eh?

Indeed I saw the wings and figured those missiles have them. But checking wikipedia the tomahawk has no wings and the variant that does have wings, the AGM-86 ALCM, would not have that silhouette at all.

Freeze or lock down room to new posts and comments, but still viewable to public. Useful for rooms that have a fixed life, such as a room set up for a specific event.
How about setting them to Semi-Public from the settings page? It won't lock out new comments, but...
- Voyagerfan5761
Yes, it's better than a full public room, but since that algorithm pushes stuff up the page, there's a big incentive for spammers to take advantage of rooms like that. Admins are unlikely to be watching closely, so if you have something to sell, pick a post with few comments, give it a little boost and post a comment with a link. But I'm actually more worried about someone posting an obscene comment or something like that. Just want to maintain the decorum of the room. We had fun, but it's time to archive.
- Dominic Jones
For that matter, you can't delete a room either. That bugs me too.
