It depends. Think of the google search page: I type a query, I follow results based on relevance/curiosity. The ads on the sidebar follow me (and hope I reciprocate w/ a click). The current effectiveness (sufficient to make GOOG lots of $, but poor from my POV) of google ads means what I follow is more important. If g-ad effectiveness (my POV) improved 100-fold, what follows me would become more important. AI isn't RealPeople, but the two are intertwining in realtime and at global scale. Good question.

who you follow. following increases the value of FF for *me.* by doing so, it has the potential to increase the value of FF for anyone who follows me. so, who *you* follow helps me determine if i should follow you.
