Thanks! This was my first attempt at shooting fireworks, and it was a blast. There are 7 more weeks in this competition and, weather permitting, I'll be shooting them all, from different locations. - Phil Essing

"“It’s very hard with a still photograph to capture the action of a concert. You try to see something in the face, the body, the lighting…Once I see a good shot in the viewfinder, it’s gone. The music gets inside of me, it’s in my brain, I’m close enough to the stage so that the vibration from the speakers is making my skin tingle, and I’m filling the viewfinder with the musician. I just always feel high.”" - Mel Buckpitt via Bookmarklet

Looking for feedback/opinions on what hardware people like for color management. I'm interested in a system to work with my monitor (LCD and CRT) and Inkjet printer. I don't need scanner or projector support. One that caught my eye for price/feature was the Color Munki.

from a photographer, I heard that the Kodachrome format actually had it's peak something like 15-20 years ago, after which much better films were released. I think Fujifilm released a chrome-film which was superior and is still being sold (at least online). - Vincent van Wylick

"The scene on the dilapidated sofa is created by one Ranger battery unit, literally placed up high on a bridge outside the building, and being driven by a skyport radio trigger. Camera bags for GIRLS! FINALLY! - Cecily via Bookmarklet
Gawd, yes. - Melissa
Normally I object to "for girls" stuff, but this is cute, like my stylish lunch bag from Target. At least it's not pink. - Kamilah Gill
Kamilah, my main problem with camera bags so far is that most of them aren't really made for the kinds of things women carry around every day. Every single camera bag I've owned hasn't been able to cope with being full of camera gear and my wallet, or camera gear plus a makeup bag, or camera gear plus a light sweater. i can either choose to leave a lens or second body at home, or I can choose to carry a second bag. This one - based on the photos - seems to alleviate most of those concerns. - Cecily
Oh, okay. Didn't realize that this was like a combination camera bag and purse. Even more useful, then :) - Kamilah Gill
Totally awesome find, Cecily! Finally "for girls" bags that don't make me gag. :) - Cheryl Jones

Nikkor AF-S 50mm f/1.4 G (FX) - Test Report / Review
"The Nikkor AF-S 50 is one of the more recent additions to the Nikon lens line up, adding a modern sonic wave drive to what's considered one of the "bread and butter" lenses of any system: the normal prime lens. These lenses have a high reputation among photographers, because they usually offer very high quality at an affordable price." - Mel Buckpitt via Bookmarklet
