(twitter down again so FF instead)..OK, lijit's ok and I'll test it for a week, but not cool that it's just Google custom search with no ad rev share. I could implement something similar myself and keep all the money
I finally implemented Lijit on my site as well, and it works alright. The interesting features are around most common search terms and frequency of searches. As I'm not looking for ad revenue, I hadn't thought of that, but see your point for sure. - Louis Gray
It has some interesting customization possibilities for blog networks pulling in disparate content for other sources within the network. - Tris Hussey
I see the value in knowing what people are looking for (hence the trial) but I guess I expected something more that a pretty front end to Goog Custom Search. I'll give it a fair shot though and report back in a week. - Duncan Riley
There's a lot more going on under the hood on relevance (i.e. it's not just Google, that's one part). Put in your content and give it the names of people whose content you like. Then try and search. The rev share is an interesting idea. Like Louis, I had never really thought about that. The stats are a nice bonus as well - Deepak Singh
two things: 1) we are working on something which should be more feature rich than just GCSE. Its not ready for prime time, but you can see it in action at my blog: http://learntoduck.com. 2) regarding rev share, its something we can do now manually, but are working quickly to provide a better solution than just Google Adsense to share with our publishers. Its important that its not just another Google Adsense, but better. Given the targeting we can employ, we should be able to offer a better ad solution. - Micah Baldwin
Also, there is the simple fact that if you are part of a network, or generate multiple types of UGC, then lijit is simply a better solution than GCSE on its own. It has been shown to both increase pageviews and time on site, especially for networks, and Lijit would take no share of the rev generated by those new pageviews. So, its a bit of give and take right now, but that should change soon. Personally, Duncan, I would test it on duncanriley.com where you could add your flickr, twitter, youtube, etc. - Micah Baldwin
