BREAKING: Facebook could possibly file IPO Wednesday, Wall Street Journal reports. Morgan Stanley is expected to lead the IPO offering, but Goldman Sachs will likely play a key role in what’s expected to be an initial public offering of up to $100 billion in size, the WSJ reports. In recent days, private trading has reportedly been halted on the company’s stock, raising the spectre of a forthcoming IPO. That sound you hear is Eduardo Saverin cheering from over in Singapore. The long expected IPO of social networking giant Facebook has finally come, and everyone’s eager to finally make some money on the site that’s cost them so much time. A million dollars isn’t cool, you know what’s cool? A billion dollars, or in this case, 100 billion dollars.

Some recent numbers provided point out that the President’s State of the Union address doesn’t exactly ring true. Since taking office in January of 2009 Obama the country has slid into oblivion. In any other election year the President would be packing up boxes and loading the U-Haul, but the weak Republican field might grant this weak President with abismal results a second term in office.

These numbers all mean one thing, we need change, we need a federal government that works for the people and in their interests rather then for their corporate cohorts, for which Obama serves as much as any of his Republican colleagues. The government spending, which has increased exponentially in the last 10 years and even more drastically in the last three have lead this country down a path to financial ruin. This country can no longer afford these big spending programs that have drained our nations financial wealth. The hope that programs like Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security will be around to serve future generations is all but written, there is no way that these programs will aid our future in their current form. (Source: iLoveCharts)

Familiar Rhetoric, Failed Record It seems that Mitt Romney isn’t the only one who relies solely on a stump speech. U.S. commandos free two hostages, kill pirate captors in rare Somalia raid
U.S. special forces swooped into Somalia on Wednesday and rescued an American and a Dane after a shootout with pirates holding them hostage, in a rare raid into the Horn of Africa nation to free foreign captives.
The aid workers, American Jessica Buchanan and Dane Poul Hagen Thisted, were kidnapped from the town of Galkayo in the semi-autonomous Galmudug region in October while working for the Danish De-mining Group (DDG).
“This is yet another message to the world that the United States of America will stand strongly against any threats to our people,” U.S. President Barack Obama said in a statement.

In a daring night time raid that many describe as being more dangers than the raid that led to the death of Osama bin Laden. In a premature congratulatory slip-up, President Obama made to Secretary of Defense Leon Paneta during his State of the Union address last night he inadvertently tipped off the media and the world to the courageous actions of the SEALs and the safe return of the American hostage Jessica Buchanan who was an aid worker for the Danish De-mining Group. This is but the latest example of President Obama’s foreign policy which focuses on precision and direct action especially when Americans or America and her interests are in danger.

Peace out, Jon: Three reasons Huntsman’s quitting the race. Great for the general election. Not so great for the primaries. Jon Huntsman was long the odd man out in the 2012 election, the guy with just enough support in most polls to show up at most of the debates, but never enough to be the focus of them. While his politics found fans (particularly his early pro-science stance, which stood out from the rest of the GOP and he later flip-flopped on), he was attempting to be the un-cola in a year when every other candidate in the race was trying to prove exactly how conservative they were. Huntsman will end his campaign Monday (a day after winning an endorsement from The State, South Carolina’s largest newspaper) and will offer his support to Mitt Romney, a guy he didn’t hide his animosity towards. Here’s why: one Huntsman never faced the kinds of controversy that faced Mitt Romney or Ron Paul did, he did face skepticism from the conservatives that he needed to impress during the season’s primaries. They skewed right; he skewed moderate. two His most recent job was the U.S. ambassador to China, giving him three negative marks: One, he was a foreign affairs candidate in a campaign focused on the economy, he worked under Obama, and it gave some on the right xenophobic fodder. three Perhaps the most damaging? He put all of his eggs in one basket — New Hampshire — in hopes he’d pull out a squeaker which he could build on. And his third-place showing was not enough to set that long-term momentum. (Source)

The three points mentioned above are precisely the reasons Jon Huntsman never caught fire within the conservative base of the Republican party. Despite the fact that his record is considerably more “conservative” then the front-runner Mitt Romney, Huntsman’s skipping Iowa was in many respects his own admission that he knew he wasn’t conservative enough to place well there. But it wasn’t the only miscalculation the Huntsman made, there were many. His flip-flopping on his beliefs on science and global warming hurt, and his speaking Chinese during the last Republican debate cemented his demise among “true conservatives”. These miscalculations and failures led what should have been a respectable campaign off the conservative cliff.

Two major sectarian attacks have occured over this weekend, one in Iraq and one in Pakistan, attacking Shi’ite pilgims observing a holy day. Eighteen people were killed and about thirty wounded when a homemade bomb detonated near a Shi’ite procession in the Pakistani town of Khanpur in the southern Punjab province this morning. They were observing the chelum: marking the 40th day after the death of Imam Hussein, the Prophet Muhammad’s grandson. In southern Iraq on Saturday, in the city of Basra, a group of Shi’ite pilgrims headed to a mosque to begin their observation of the holy day were also bombed, and at least 53 people, among them several police officers, were killed.
