That's funny, I was under the impression that compassion is *absolutely* an emotion. The emotion one feels when there's a strong desire to alleviate another person's pain or suffering. Also, let's not confuse Zen for apathy. - Paul Reynolds
if you will look inside that strong desire to alleviate, you will see your ego resisting an existing situation, and you want to change it ... it is only when you accept it, take it into yourself fully, that you can begin to do anything about it... i live in small town india and see this story or worse every day. every day. it is not easy, stretches empathy to infinity, and leaves a full time understanding that life is like this, it is not just an occasional event, that one musters up some energy to solve. - gregory lent
