this is bad and just last week I was told Amazon S3 never goes down. - Wayne Sutton
Another example of shitty designed apps. Where's the failover? App devs using S3 should know better than not having a failover - even at 5 9's. Single point of failure = BAD. Who funds that shit? ;) - Aaron Brazell
Akamai, Limelight, EdgeCast and the other CDNs really couldn't ask for better advertising, could they? I wonder if they'll finally roll out low-end offerings in the S3-style space? - Ken Sheppardson
My thoughts exactly Ken. Someone in another thread was saying this was good for Amazon, because it shows how "needed" they are. I see it quite the opposite. - Anthony Citrano
I am surprised that S3 is vulnerable to such outages... odd. SPF (single point of failure) is something I'd expect Amazon to plan / scale for so that their infrastructure was not subject to such incidents... poor management? what's up? - Susan Beebe (Santa Claus)
We discussed it earlier today here as well: http://friendfeed.com/e/f8f329... - Anthony Citrano
