"During the first two months we are warning motorists that they have committed an offence, so that they have a chance to change their route accordingly rather than face a fine." So they're going to send letters to people how have already driven through the tram gates in the first two months. How does that help people not familiar with the area who are therefore more likely to drive through them? - Tony Ruscoe

Plus, when coming down from Middlewood, if you follow the "All Other Traffic" sign, it doesn't actually take you to the other side of the tram gate, you end up at owlerton Stadium, at the same time it increases traffic down the very thin Taplin Road and clogs that street up instead. - Stuart Grimshaw

(cont) The one at the bottom of the Wicker is even better, it directs you down little back streets to the new inner ring road, away from Spittle Hill, where you can only turn left, even further away from Spittle Hill. I really don't understand how these things are supposed to improve traffic, they just confuse everyone and shift the problem elsewhere. - Stuart Grimshaw
