interesting, maybe microsoft can use this in one of their new mac v. pc ads see what you're missing on a mac? oh, wait, it isn't that great. - Nice Fish Films
Who cares. Do we need another Second Life? - Josh Kenzer
very cool, was waiting for them to do something like this - D.J.
Josh: I'm not sure I think we need this, but this surely isn't "another Second Life"... - Marcos Marado
I think Google has a hit on their hands here. SL is a silo, and siloes die because the web has no place for them. It makes much more sense to have embeddable virtual worlds, it follows the same formula YouTube uses to get their traffic. The more places you can put your content, the more people will see that content. This also provides an excellent platform for advertising as well, and nobody does that better than Google. For their sake though I hope they actually find a way to monetize this. - Devlin Dunsmore

What is the deal with Google releasing products that require specialized browser plugins that only work on Windows? Seriously? - Jason Wehmhoener
only windows? damn.. i'm still waiting for google earth in browser for mac ;/ - Graham Garland
If I need to chat with someone, do I need a 3D avatar to do it? Who does this appeal to besides teens and early adopters? - Brian Carter
I think a lot of people stay in SL for the build and customization tools more than the chat. Spore is right on the money for recognizing this. Google has a chance to shine here. - sergiooo
BC - I does not appeal to this early adopter. - Russellreno
Hmm, another Google 'product' that's only for windows. Hurrah. Luckily, this looks about three years too late. - Brad Brooks
it seems pretty basic at this point, long load times, very little to do, hardly any customization... seems like it has a long way to go - Nathan Chase
Agreed, Lively + Google World = Win. Can you say "Metaverse"? Also agreed that the SL user base really cares about virtual worlds work, and the SL platform is interoperable with the other OpenSime platforms. Right now, Lively = Plurk and Second Life = Twitter, at least in terms of user engagement. - Steve Lynch
