"The reason I believe it's possible is that I expect energy conservation (especially from different lifestyles) to weigh in heavily. In fact, I think it would be totally silly to work so hard on clean energy while not doing much on conservation. The Gore speech doesn't really mention it, but like you, I'm most interested in his goal. Yes, I believe that with combined efforts, we can pull it off. We might even keep our current energy level, but we simply don't want to. Keeping that level would be a waste of our time. We can do better if we work on both things simultaneously. What will happen will mostly depend on how fast people will take on different attitudes, and I'm optimistic about that.
