"Podcars" or PRTs (personal rapid transit) are somewhere between the personal car and the subway. 2-10 people per car, stop without stopping traffic at any "parking station". Go anywhere it goes almost on-demand. And the whole thing is automated and solar powered (mostly at least). London's Heathrow, Sweden, Poland, Korea, Santa Cruz, and Abu Dhabi are already testing the feasibility. - xero
