A journal which allows one to publish refereed code into the SAGE project. The citation format looks like it needs a bit of work, but this is a good step. Wonder if it shows up in places like Google Scholar and Web of Science? That's crucial. - Michael Nielsen

Jill - they have an example at http://modular.math.washington..., which reads "Carl Witty, {\em Implementation of Interval Arithmetic} (500 lines of code), JSAGE, Feb 2007, available since SAGE version 2.1, \url{http://www.sagemath.org}". This could be modified to look a lot more like a regular electronic journal citation. As it is, some journals would refuse to print it - I know all the American Physical Society ones would. ... remove the line count, change the journal name to "J. SAGE" or something like that, insert an electronic article reference number which automatically takes readers to the right version, so the version number can be dropped. All these suggestions are in the service of getting these citations into published journals. A (slower) alternative is for JSAGE to lobby journals to change their policies on acceptable citation format. - Michael Nielsen
