Okay, maybe "like" isn't the right word... "Interesting" would fit better. - Holger Eilhard
Did you try typing on a different i3G to see if there was a difference? Also I have heard that staying on EDGE and only turning on 3G when you want it puts the battery life back to Gen 1 iPhone levels. It would be nice if there was an option to auto-switch to 3G only during high data demand. - Paul Reynolds
seriously, this makes me nervous considering mine should be here any moment - Ryan
the new iPhone's battery life does suck badly. It's almost as bad as my MacBook Pro. - Thomas Hawk
As a phone, it sounds like it sucks ass...but everything else seems to work. That's why I'm sticking with my BB as my primary phone and mail machine while I head out and buy an iPod Touch w/2.0 for my mobile media and web.... - Live4Soccer
MacBreak Weekly bashed the 3G iPhone also quite heavily. I was a bit shocked to hear that. - Johan Paul via twhirl
Its true, restoring backup makes things worse, I actually had mine replaced. Things are much better now, I dont have the lag, just have the apps crashing more then just a few times a day :) - Socom
Turning off 3G/Wifi when out and about is vital for the battery life. I wish they'd fix this but I'm ok with turning 3G off for now. - Brandon Titus
And this is the best battery life of 3G phones... No wonder Apple didn't include it initially. - Bwana McCall
I'm also having keyboard lag on my older iPhone with 2.0 firmware - Robert Hafer
guess, i'll wait until iPhone 2.1+. wait, we don't even have iPhones here in Malaysia!! urgh.... http://www.facebook.com/group.... - Pajama Domain via twhirl
Not to harp on this but if you replaced "iPhone" with "Windows Mobile 7" in the comments about apps crashing MORE THAN ONCE A DAY on people's phones a WEEK INTO LAUNCH, the blogs would be lit up like a xmas tree with tech blog after tech blog calling it "garbage" and "crap" and "never buy", etc...but put some shinny buttons and Monkey Ball on the damn thing and all is forgiven? Spotty service, shit battery life, crashing apps, tell me again why it's a good PHONE? - Live4Soccer
Hmmmm...should I hold off on buying the new iPhone? - Hutch Carpenter
Learn from Microsoft, folks - No device/app/project is good enough till *atleast* v3 - Yuvi
Yet all this whining and we'll still buy this phone. The iPhone gets all this attention because it's a damn good phone even with all these damn bugs. It's the phone that came out in the industry and made every cellphone company shit their pants. It's software development people, there is bugs, shit happens, it gets fixed. Buy any phone you want but it still has the best battery life out of any phone out there, everyone just wonders why the juice is being drained, it's because you use the phone more than any other phone you've used. Why? because the phone is Jesus. Amen - Michael Narciso via NoiseRiver
@Live4Soccer :) Heard of the RDF? - Yuvi
I think things will improve. Stability is definitely an issue. 2.0 stability reminds me of 1.0's first month or two. Power management is a pain with too many menus to navigate. See my video here: http://www.lonseidman.com/?q=n... - Lon Seidman
stability and battery issues exist for first gen HW with 2.0 SW and apps. I'm willing to tolerate (for a while anyway) because of the payback in joy and functionality. A good app would a power management app bringing up a one-touch power saving mode and custom options (similar to) MacBook. - Michael Markman
I've been testing battery life this past week and I find that if I turn push off and tell it to update once an hour my battery life with 3G increases by about 30% - Sean Davis
woke up with 10% battery this AM - via StumbleRead - Adam Loving
come on , let's face the fact - Apple is not even a phone company , lots need to be learned by Apple and their fans - deter3 via feedalizr
On the power issue, I have learned that handset receive and transmit power is actually set by the network over the air. The base station can tell the handset to tune down or up real time. The rumor is because AT&T coverage is not very good (not enough base stations?), so they set this setting very high and drain most of their 3G devices pretty quick. The power setting at AT&T is believe to be higher then European operators. In time I suppose, thing will invest more into their network for 3G. :) - netrider11
Damn, W. Seto. That actually makes a lot of sense. Thanks for that info. - Paul Reynolds
The keyboard thing is strange. No such problem here. No battery drain overnight either. Maybe it is an AT&T thing? I am with (the very evil) Rogers. - Chantal
