"“Normal” people are just getting the hang of texting - if they use Facebook they likely feel like they are on the bleeding edge. I become more convinced by the day that there has never been a time in recorded history when what is technologically possible so vastly out paces what is realistically viable" - this is deep. - Jason Toney
There's this idea of a technological singularity: that, in most of our lifetimes, technological progress will outpace humanity's ability to keep up with it, rendering us all obsolete (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/T...). I pray, marco, that you're not right and it's not here already :-P - Mark Trapp
I think we will get caught up but things like Friend Feed are going to have to be broken down into bite size chunks in the process - I love the fact that current Friend Feeders are here for the conversation but I also know that the other 99.999% of the world has other priorities - the concepts behind these new tools will slowly make their way into people's lives little by little - it may take a few decades but at some point people won't think twice abt sharing anything, from anywhere with anyone at anytime - Marco
This is off the wall and I don't know what to make of it, but I just started watching the John Adams series tonight, and I'm trying to process that against Marco's post and social networking in general. I'm going to sleep on it. - Larry Huffman
"I should first clarify something - this is not one of the “we spend too much damn time on the internet” paternalistic screeds I often see us subject one another to." :-) - Hutch Carpenter
lol wow I am very curious to hear your thoughts and the conceptual intersection that spawned them - Marco
My dance friends....are just....beginning....to find Facebook. - Mitchell Tsai
What an awesome conversation. I don't see my mom using Friendfeed for a long time. But I just got her a flip Mino and she's shooting video all the time now. We gotta make this micro-socnet magic more digestable for the masses or it will wither and die on the vine with us teknophiles. We need the "easy" button for FF before the masses are ready for this bright & shiny new tech. And we need to take it global in a multi-lingual sense. - Brian Daniel Eisenberg
The only people I know who get the likes of Twitter and FriendFeed are the people I encounter there. And I am old, for most users. I have to fix last.fm right now, it is playing rap music. Now THAT is something to say something paternalistic about... - Ruud van Wijngaarden
