It's a feature I prefer, I sometimes miss the original notification and this is a great reminder that I still have to check my mobile phone. - Andrew Trinh

ITS A FEATURE! Acknowledge your phone the first time and it won't bother you. ;-) I agree, however, that it should be a toggle and a definable duration. - Maverick
Haven't noticed that feature yet. But if it's there I basically like it, though it should be configurable. I prefer the way my old E61i did it: a small LED was flashing if there's anything new in my inbox, calls or texts... - Holger Eilhard

They do it so that if you missed the first text alert, you get the second. I fyou clear the message, then you don't get the second alert. Windows Mobile, Symbian, Blackberry all do this. Apple fixed it. - Michael Larsen
