FriendFeed. - Robert Scoble
Whale vs Pork! lol - Igor The Troll
1. Twitter (still) 2. FriendFeed ..... Plurk, whatever. It's a different demographic IMHO. - Daniel Shaw
plurk assumes all will message via their site - not a good micro-blogging pattern. ff is the most likely winner in all this. - MikeAmundsen
With Scoble - FriendFeed. Plurk is for teens. - Stephen Pierzchala
What is a Pownce? - Igor The Troll
I asked ChaCha "Twitter is currently the largest, but I have a feeling that Jaiku will start to grow since it has been bought by Google... ChaCha http://chacha.com/u/zd7l7btw" - Leif Hansen

Don't personally agree, but playing with ChaCha, thought it was an interesting response. - Leif Hansen

It's as easy if not easier to have convos on Plurk as it is on Friendfeed, and the users are much more engaged. If it's only about convos, Plurk leaves Friendfeed in the dust. - Mack Collier
Where can I see everyone talking about Hillary's speech on Plurk? Can I permalink to those? Can I Twitter about them? Can I see who is involved in such a conversation? If it's about conversations FriendFeed leaves Plurk in the dust. - Robert Scoble
Robert I've seen plenty of people talking about the Hillary speech on Plurk. And yes, you can permalink to those convos. And yes, you can see who is involved in the convos, want me to show you how? Read my post. - Mack Collier
Plurk beats out Twitter in the ability to comment on the post. Beyond that they appear nearly equal, both falling short of the functionality of Friendfeed. - Jack Carlson
Mack: I see lots of people talking about them, but no conversations or ability to link to a certain conversation like I could link to specifically this FriendFeed cluster. Can you post a URL to one specific back-and-forth conversation you see in Plurk? - Robert Scoble
Robert here's an example of what I am talking about: http://www.plurk.com/p/7f62 - Mack Collier
Find a plurk about Hillary's speech, then click on it. That shows you the conversation happening. Then click on 'Plurk Page'. That gives you the permalink to that particular convo. That's how I linked to the above one. - Mack Collier
Mack: ahh, cool. That's better than Twitter and closer to FriendFeed. I hate the UI, though. But see that some will love the "game" and "color" aspects of it. - Robert Scoble
Give Plurk a few days. I hated the UI too, now I like it. Once you start to figure out the functions it makes a lot more sense. - Mack Collier
@Mack Thanks for enlightening us. I'd never seen that view of Plurk. Nonetheless, I agree with @Scoble... I can't stand the UI. That's a deal killer. - Daniel Shaw
BTW now help me, how do I link to this particular convo to share it on Twitter/Plurk? How do I get the permalink? - Mack Collier
Mack: click on "More" and then "Link to this entry" - Robert Seidman
Ok think I figured it out - Mack Collier
Mack: I've given it a week already and will stay there cause I already have about 800 friends, so there's obviously a lot of interest in a Twitter competitor. They were very smart to make it different than Twitter. I'll keep watching it, I just really hate the UI. I'll probably lurk more than participate over there. - Robert Scoble
yes you can definitely link to Plurk conversations, but Plurk is elitist. it doesn't import feeds and it makes people a slave to ass kissing with the stupid Karma shit. I find it offensive. I notice the worst of my twitter list prefers it. ex: people who are online to show all their friends off. I'm not going to name names because those people will horde and attack in groups. It is why I created Panopticons - ⓃⓄⒶⒽ ⒹⒶⓋⒾⒹ ⓈⒾⓂⓄⓃ
Robert I have no idea how you are able to make following 800 people there work. I am already having to be way selective about who I follow. I don't think you can use Plurk as an 'information aggregator' like you can with twitter. The timeline format is too restrictive, IMO. But we'll see... - Mack Collier
Lurking instead of Plurking, Robert? I concur, it doesn't engage me much. - Jack Carlson
Mack: that might be why I don't like the UI. On Twitter I used to be able to follow 25,000 with no troubles (via IM, which is why I really want these services to support XMPP). - Robert Scoble
I think Plurk does support IM. Could be wrong. - Mack Collier
Plurk is definitely an acquired taste. I like how you put the differences between it and twitter in perspective. Kind of like the Facebook vs. Myspace argument. Many people are active on both for different reasons. One thing that is consistent for Plurk and Twitter is uptime. They both have their problems, but we keep coming back. I wrote about that in a recent post. "Are we really bothered by twitter uptime?" http://is.gd/swF - warren sukernek
Twitter. Plurk is a beer garden. FriendFeed is awesome and totally different than both. - Clay Newton
I am impressed now that I've dug into it a bit more, pretty cool. But how many microblogging services am I going to have to switch to. Open ID we NEEEED you! - Leif Hansen

I expect this debate to go on for quite some time ;) - Nicholas Kreidberg
I prefer Plurk's graphics. - edythe
There are some interesting (marketing) people on Plurk ... Wouldn't discount anything. LOVE FF !! - Charlie Anzman
@Robert Yes, FriendFeed - Aaron Myers
On Twitter, I don't see comments from people I don't follow, even if they're in response to a comment from someone I do follow. At first, this bothered me, but now I've come to consider it a boon. Plurk is full of conversations between people I don't know about things I don't care about. (And I'm very selective about who I follow!) Plurk may well be ideal for teens, but see no point in it if Twitter is up. But NB: Twhirl made Twitter work for me and many other people who don't have time to hit "update" - Alan Wolk
