anyone? - Hayk
:( - Mona N.
Bueller? - Anna Haro
Not you, Mona?! I always have problem having people respond to my posts..! After a quite solid look-around, I decided to organize an OpenCoffee Club in Cairo for the first time. Was looking to see if someone on FF had an experience or a feel of how it is done. I already have in mind the plan of how to do it, but wanted to see some opinions. - Hayk
@Anna, what is Bueller? - Hayk
Oh sorry Hayk, it's a reference to a popular 1980s film here in the U.S. - Anna Haro
Ah I see. OpenCoffee Club (OCC) is an informal way to bring startups, VCs, entrepreneurs, journalists etc around a table for discussions, to a Starbucks or some other cafe. It has been implemented in 83 locations worldwide and is a big success!! Sties like moveme.com have been born as a result of OCC meetings! - Hayk
sorry but what's exactly an OpenCoffee Club meeting? - Niki Costantini
the hardest thing is the frequency if you don't have a huge local tech scene. Hasn't worked well in Australia for example - Duncan Riley
@Niki, check the RWW intro article at http://bit.ly/2EZzmy and the original blog post of the founder of OCC, Saul Klein at http://bit.ly/2V0fBV - Hayk
@Duncan, the good thing is that Egypt is brimming with IT firms, startups and tech companies. There are even some regional VCs here and an enormous interest in all things IT. So, perhaps it might be worth giving it a try! - Hayk
Will do, thank you Hayk :) - Niki Costantini
No probs, Niki! Anyhow, if you hear anyone being part of OCC in the past or smth, do let me know! thanks!! - Hayk
