"From city centre to city centre in north-western Europe, rail is not only quicker than air, now it’s cheaper too... The tide of low-cost travel is turning. As the rising price of aviation fuel has pushed up air fares, this autumn will be the first time for at least a decade when you will be able to travel abroad significantly more cheaply by train than by plane — at least for many destinations within a day’s travel from London." - RAPatton

Why did I just get an image of "Blaine the Monorail" in my head all the sudden. (Shiver) - Haggis (Sean)
Blaine is a Pain - RAPatton
Blaine was a good character and those middle books were the best of the Dark Tower. I hated the ending; it not only lowered the Dark Tower but knocked the Stand down a notch too. - RAPatton
ohhhh, TRAIN !!!! - silpol
I feel finally it is time to plan True European travel as I felt it should be done! - silpol
Train travel in Europe is amazing- you see the country. It is comfortable and relaxing. Amtrak....not so much. - Abby Martin
I know but Eurotrains were not that cheap if you do very long route as family of *2 adults and 2 kids*... and I want _really-really_ long route, barely star-crossing whole Europe turning around of Swiss mostly... - silpol
Now remove the petrol taxes that subsidize rail travel and re-compare the prices of driving vs. taking the train vs. flying. - Dave Roth
@Dave take away petrol taxes - and petrol companies will take it as *their* money... this is essentially what Russian petro-business dreams about - ripping off every single EUR/USD/etc ... forget about driving on cheap petrol - your dependency on oil is ready to be exploited every single time... buy electric car and stop paying tax anyway - silpol
