Maia, be sure to check out the upper Sierras and not just the valley floor. It's much nicer up there. See http://twurl.nl/6z1fde . If you are feeling ambitious, Mono Lake and Bodie are not that much further away and you can easily see them thanks to Tioga Pass being open. It is much harder to visit once Tioga is closed. - Jauder Ho

I don't think we're going to the valley floor; I believe the plan is to backpack around Glacier Point and Illouette Falls, but I wasn't the one doing the planning :) Not sure if it'd be easy to drive up to Lake Tioga or not. I've never been to Yosemite before, so I have yet to get my bearings! - Maia Bittner
