to quote and paraphrase Ignignokt: "we are the Google and our Wave is advanced beyond all that you can possibly comprehend with 100% of your brain"

Guess I'm SOL then because the average human only uses 3%. Generally speaking I hover right around 1.5
- Ebm
Well, for one thing, the Google Wave has 1/3 less gravity than your earth. I don't know if you can understand that, but it's vertical leap is beyond all measurement.

Just remember Google's motto, "All that we say and do is right."

Lately it seems life is a series of events that keep repeating themselves: laptop/cell phone dying and nothing but red lights ahead. Oh, and never having enough time....
This resulted from a Mom in Alabama asking her high school son to help with a commercial for the Tea Party she was involved in organizing. Boy, does it slam the message home. Very impressive
- Ebm
Her note: "I asked Justin if he could help me make a commercial for my group's Tea Party. He sat down at the laptop for about an hour, and then brought this to me and asked, 'is this okay, Mom?' After I finished watching it, my stomach was in my throat. A very powerful video...turn up the sound & sit back..."

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 31 (Xinhua) -- Pushing in three directions, a massive wildfire in hills near Los Angeles doubled in size to 85,000 acres (about 34,425 hectares) overnight, authorities said on Monday.

Why do people take pictures at the zoo? You can find a much better picture of an elephant online. I promise.
Why do people travel around the world to take pictures of anything, to say that they took it. Ansel Adams took better pictures of the Snake River and the Tetons, but I was there.
- Mike
um, yeah. Thanks for clearing that up for us Mike.
- Ebm
People who take snapshots at the zoo are documenting their experience, not the animals themselves. Those of us there with 15 pound rigs just like to take pictures.

Did I miss some sarcasm in the original post? I feel like I did now.
- Mike
from Nambu
I'm not sure if sarcasm is the right word, but perhaps you answered too literally. I would have gone with "so they can have a have a hi-res photo of am ape penis at their immediate disposal". I think the question more poking fun at the idea of it all. could be wrong though.

If you miss the old friendfeed UI as much as I do and want it back, like this comment now.
I honestly don't feel like I need this. It seems excessive. Help! I've been down for 2 weeks now, feeling (slightly) better, what should I do?

I've had a couple friends who ended their PT early. All injuries came back. From my PT friend, most PT programs actually aren't long enough. And most people quit way too early. Hope that helps.
- WiseYoda (aka Patrick)
I went 4x a week for 3months when I jacked up my knee. I would have continued to go had my insurance not denied the PT's request for additional visits. I think it's a fair number.

I went from a runner pushing a 100 miles/week to celebrating making it down a flight of stairs. To all you runners out there, take care of yourself, don't neglect your knees, and for the love of all that is good in this world, take a day off once in a while.

...and way better than just pointing at a lion sprawled out in the sun...I mean, I watch Kita do that everyday (and don't have to pay $20 to see it, ok granted she's not as big as a lion, but almost)

In recent years, optics researchers have come up with numerous concepts for invisibility cloaks—camouflaging that would effectively reroute light so as to conceal an object within. But a team of researchers has now designed a much simpler cloaking apparatus that does away with the need for metamaterials entirely

Did you know... ... that today is Melba Toast Day? Celebrate the 1861 birthday of Helen Porter Mitchell, aka Dame Nellie Melba, the Australian diva who was the inspiration for Melba toast and the French dessert, peche melba. Have some Melba toast today!
- Ebm
Did you know... ... that there is an election in the state of California today? However, none of the ballot initiatives concerns Melba toast.
- John E. Bredehoft
In celebration, my dinner tonight will consist of melba toast smeared with pureed melba toast
- Mike
That's because the ballots are printed...on MELBA TOAST! and Mike...I would like to propose a toast with toast of melba toast smeared melba toast. Cheers!

Dreamlike, soulful, poetic, hushed - there are many words to describe Barbara Cole's underwater photography, but the word that resonates with us is inspiring. Watch and listen as one of our May photographers opens up about her process.
