Here at Reason Digital, we choose to use the term "disabled people" as a way to describe a situation people find themselves in rather than as a condition they have. For example, people can be disabled by the technology they use or they can be disabled by society's attitudes. While we understand the "people-first" terminology of "people with a disability" we feel that making the disability secondary to the person has the unintended consequence of reflecting the disability in a negative way, whereas many people embrace it as a strong part of their identity - such as in Deaf culture.
