Neatorama » Diving with the Right Whale

"Q: It must have been pretty nerve-racking having such a large animal swim up to you. A: It was amazing. I mean, I have to tell you there were days when I was at the bottom at 70 feet, and here comes this bus swimming down. I’m standing on the bottom, and as it comes down, I get on my knees, lean over backwards—my scuba tank is now digging into the sand. And of course their eyes are on the side of their heads, so it had to turn and look at me. It came within inches. Here’s this softball-size whale eye looking at me. But then it stops—stops on a dime. It’s just hovering there, and literally one flick of its tail, and it would have crushed me like a bug. But it doesn’t. It was just highly curious." - Christopher Sacca via Bookmarklet

I would extend this concept to blog posts as well. Few people have the time to read long posts. - Eddie Awad

Do you tweet on Twitter? Or network on Ning? A new and growing array of tongue-twisting tools and technologies is available to help people easily interact and share information online. While it may be tempting to avoid these obscurely named technologies, there's good reason for small businesses to learn what they are and how to use them: So-called social media can help small firms to better connect with and market themselves to consumers and others in their industries. And they're often free. - Robert Seidman via Bookmarklet

Interesting, an (unofficial) native Reader iPhone app. Will try it out. - Mihai Parparita
t's quite basic, in that all you can see is your reading list, starred items, and notes (there is no way to pick between your folders, subscriptions or friends). It seems to be geared towards offline access, in that it will cache images from posts and the entire destination page (with CSS, etc) for your starred items and notes. That generally makes sense, since it's a strength of a native app (though now that the iPhone browser supports HTML 5 offline storage, this could be done in a web app too). - Mihai Parparita
Not sure it's worth the $10 at this stage, but it's nice that others are starting to do this work for us :) - Mihai Parparita

Never mind. Just realized you have to enable the Apps menu from Preferences. - Amir Gharaat
Got 7.7, but when I click "Check for Update" under the iPhone version tab, I get "This version of the iPhone software (1.1.4) is the latest version." - Stephen Mack

"Aside from The Mad Ballmer it seems all my old targets have gone to ground. You hardly hear a peep out of Larry Ellison these days, though Oracle's appetite for acquisition hasn't waned. Darl McBride seems to have crawled back under a rock, with only SCO's delusions of patent grandeur to keep him warm. Steve Jobs is hanging tough, of course, but did you see how scrawny he looked at the last keynote? It seems almost unfair to pick on him in his wizened state. And isn't Carly Fiorina on The View with Whoopi Goldberg and that ditzy blonde chick?" - Ontario Emperor
