looks pretty nice...then again give me anything Mac, then mix it up with Reader...i'd be liking it ☺
- Aline Ohannessian
Nothing wrong with using it all off the browser... I suppose there could be some further integration with the desktop...such as AppleScripts or something. But the gap between desktop and browser based is definitely getting smaller.

Manual, not everyone likes Google's UI. I certainly don't.
- Akiva
It was a total fail for me. Crashed every time.
- Louis Gray
I'm trying it now. Seems to a problem with navigating the main post window with a keyboard. Spacebar keeps sending me to the top of the list rather than to the next unread item.
- G Dub of the Carolinas
Any thing out there that's similar to this, but for windows? :)
- Jonas, Leper of FF
I'm running Vista, and the new FeedDemon beta crashes instantaneously upon my opening the application. Anyone have any ideas/solutions?
- Eric Geller
@Manuel I'm not sure about Gruml since I haven't used it, but another reason to use desktop vs. browser is if you are trying to subscribe to feeds that require username/password authentication.

Shareaholic is ok but that's only for Firefox as an addon
- Outsanity
nope it's also available as a bookmarklet, look again
- LANjackal
from IM
Well, I'm sure Sharein will build up in time. What Shareaholic needs is a way to send the content to the other sites at the same time rather than separately at a time
- Outsanity
Took him long enough, lol. i made videos on the site last month. PICK UP THE PACE, MR. GRAY!

Outsanity, I will never bow down to your outrageous -- SQUIRREL!

Outsanity, Shareaholic supports Firefox, IE8, and via a bookmarklet Chrome, Opera, IE7,6, etc. All browsers are covered. Shareaholic also supports Ping.fm for multiple sites at the same time. -- Jay @ Shareaholic
- Jay Meattle
I think we ALL already know of Shareaholic by now. Plus, Being a Ping.fm user, I usually use... Ping.fm. Call me crazy for trying new things.

What is your Wakoopa URL? What's your top 3 apps? Mine is: http://wakoopa.com/koltreg... and my top 3 are Chrome, FF and Firefox (though don't use it much now) #whatsyoururl
http://wakoopa.com/justinluey I'm on a new system, and I forgot to install the tracker so my stuff it out of date. I do love this tool, its interesting to see what you've been using and I've discovered great apps from other users. The sharing works best with FriendFeed, and there have been some great discussions around particular software.
- Justin Luey
One issue I have with Wakoopa is I just cannot seem to update my profile page - I do it, then the save button gives me a "loading" that never seems to stop. If anyone knows what's up with this, I'd appreciate the advice.
- Ciaoenrico
Hi Guys, we are just testing a new service built on friendfeed and our vooices.us platform, it is an micro-podcasting service called FriendBoo - http://www.friendboo.com/ - we would love it if you could try it out and let us know what you think and how we can improve the service.
If you use Firefox, and you're not using Weave, you need to get it and try their automatic login feature, it's awesome :) - https://labs.mozilla.com/2009...
I know this has been posted before, but I'm just LOVING the automatic sign-in (it's in the address bar when you've stored credentials for a site).

Lars: A lot of these aren't open source: kuler and dropbox for example.
- Ted Roden
Ted: yes, when I saw Kuler, i started wondering ("hey, Adobe does Open Source???") but I know for sure that Dropbox, albeit cool, is as proprietary as Windows Vista.
- Lars Trieloff
Lars: I think you are correct, there is confusion in this article between "free" and "open source."
- Chris Rogers
I see they've corrected the title to "25 Free Mac Apps..."
- Phil Maxwell
Interesting...! Has anyone here bought a full license? If so, is it a product you'd recommend..?
- Andrew Terry
I don't have a license yet, but the application has a great UI and comes with more features than, say, CleanApp -- I think I'll buy it at some point
- alieb
I "found" a copy for testing and so far I likes. Worth buying I'd say

""When we think of online photo sharing, we typically think of sites like Flickr and Picasa where photos are hosted and organized by users. Though these sites definitely serve a purpose in helping us host and share our photos, they don’t do a great job at collectively organizing and displaying photos by content type or subject matter. Fotopedia, a photo encyclopedia site that launches to the public today, hopes to become the Wikipedia for photos by centralizing the photo experience around user-created topics and subject matters. The sleek web interface is coupled with a desktop application for a community experience on site or off."

"I had an informative chat with Seesmic founder Loic Le Meur at the TechFellow Awards Friday night, where he revealed to me the future plans for Seesmic Desktop, a desktop Twitter and Facebook client that’s built on Adobe Air. Seesmic will launch a new version of the desktop client next week that will let users compress their stream of Facebook updates and Twitter messages into one column. Currently, the client divides streams from different accounts and social networks into several columns."
- Kol Tregaskes
from Bookmarklet
"The new version also features a new button that will let you post a Tweet to multiple Twitter accounts at the same time. And Seesmic will also let you see tracking stats from links sent out with url shortening service bit.ly. Seesmic’s current version lets you use a variety of other url shorteners, including tr.im and Snurl, but doesn’t let you see stats within the client itself."
- Kol Tregaskes
Me really liking Seesmic Desktop. :-)
- Kol Tregaskes
Seesmic is a cutterfuck. No Thank you.
- Matt Ruiz
I have absolutely no idea what the means but it doesn't sound good. ;-)
- Kol Tregaskes
I wish there was a way to easily transfer configurations from/to seesmic and tweetdeck.
- Gil Francisco III
Wouldn't it be awesome if Loic was honest on if he's killing the video component of Seesmic? I see a lot of tapdancing, but no honesty.
- Anika
Stopped using the products with the desktop versions. twhirl was modular and let the user decide how to implement it, how it was positioned. Desktop killed that and me as user.
- Michael W. May
Michael: I'm still using twhirl. I switched to Seesmic Desktop and promptly switched back. Nothing I use can beat twhirl -- except Tweetdeck, but I find that to be a resource hog. I would say go back to twhirl if you liked it that much.
- Eric Geller
atm, I am AIR free, used to just the browser again and happy.
- Michael W. May
I'm still waiting for a good Mac desktop FriendFeed app. thwirl feels like a Windows app to me
- Simon Tracey
from BuddyFeed
This is what I have been looking for. Compressing my stream into one column is why I prefer to tweet on my phone. PockeTwit does this well with my Twitter and Identi.ca accounts. SO I will definitely give this a try and will patiently wait for them to integrate FriendFeed into that stream.
- amarquart
you can't get it to look as good as this but for some, "close enough" can be good enough. Here's mine --->- http://friendfeed.com/dffrnt... Though I've stopped using Fx now since it's as bloated POS. Only use it when I absolutely need some add-on.

280 Slides - Create & Share Presentations Online. One of the best web app UI's I have ever seen (and very similar to Apple's Keynote). - http://280slides.com/
CTRL-SHIFT-C does it in Windows I think
- Matt Hall
Thanks Matt! I always have to look that keyboard shortcut up when I need it. But I am still wondering about that "to do list checkbox" button in the screenshot above. What version of Evernote has that?
- Stephen Francoeur
my mac client has the to-do checkbox button.

Back to sharing... :P. "Papaya is a web server for Mac OS X dedicated to sharing your files with others. Sharing files is now incredibly quick and easy!" <--they ain't lying. http://lightheadsw.com/papaya/
How's their security? Seems like this is opening a big back door into whatever Mac is runinng the app - I'd feel better if the app had an easy way to shut off the sharing. On the good side, it does support iPhone users, and bonjour support is a nice touch,
- Bill Sodeman
I could make some use of this .. one of the guys in my band has a mac pro ;)
- John Blanton
from twhirl
I'm no security guru, so I can't be certain. Would love to hear the thoughts of someone who is clued up. I know u can password protect the entire thing as well as individual files and folders. You can of course just disable it too
- Zee.
From their site re Access Control ... Any shared items can be disabled, to prevent downloads, and you can turn off listing for groups to conceal their contents. You can even protect files and groups with passwords. In Papaya's preferences, you can choose to throttle the speed at which clients can download your files. This is useful if you want to prevent Papaya from saturating your Internet connection.
