@Egon: Could you post more results, what is it, why do we need it, e.g. why are you mentioning SOAP and cloud? Do not know enough to see the bonus right now. - joergkurtwegner

Advantages include: no HTTP protocol, so no trouble with time outs on intermediate routers, no split up of IO port description and port itself (SOAP+WSDL), asynchronous (though that can be simulated with polling), allows strong data typing by using XML Schema - Egon Willighagen
