"Wow! Great info. I'm not an expert on this topic. I was sent this post by an anonymous author, and living in Orlando, it's hard for me to know how true these are. I'm a pretty good craps playerr, and I think the craps tips are pretty good. Thanks for the info!" - shaun mclane
"I just sent you an email, but I'll put it here too - I thought the CC licensed photos only needed to be linked to. I'll be adding all of the attributions this afternoon. Sorry about that!" - shaun mclane
"wow. I had someone send me these in an email, but they didn't include their name. Looks like almost the same list as you have. Pretty cool stuff." - shaun mclane
"Haha - thanks. Glad you got the line - you're the first person to say anything about it. I often wonder how many people just think I'm an idiot. This blog clearly isn't for them." - shaun mclane
getting to the 'me' tab is a pain, if i'm on my raw feed :( and when i go to directly to someone's feed, i have to click, click, and keep clicking to get back to my own feed (from the name on my post or my name in the upper right) :(. BUT, clicking on my avatar, takes me back to my own feed... interesting - Mona N.
I see hide on all posts. I like the List grouping format. Are Rooms just glorified lists now? - tagami
Ok, this is a problem since I can't 'hide' unless I'm on the raw feed and not the tabbed feeds. - Mona N.
Mona, that looks just like a phone number. Is it the Twitter help line? - Mark Dykeman
Loving! Took a few minutes but loving it now. - ·[•_•]·
my day just got 1.77564 better. Maybe 1.77565. The beta is cool, but the "better friendfeed" greasemonkey script is still better IMO. No...the beta is much better. Umm.... - shaun mclane
Ok, you guys. I figured it out. So native posts are done via raw feed (feeds w/no tabs) From there, you can maintain (native post / hide). To go back to tabbed FF: 1. Click on names or 2. Click on your name in the upper right hand corner. But you can't hide on tabbed feeds. odd - Mona N.
the FF rooms in the sidebar! FF beta FTW! Now I'm sold. - shaun mclane
The tabs, I can't get over the counter intuitiveness of the tabs! :( - Mona N.
May I ask what tabs you are referring to, and be gentle! haha I'm confused, but I'm sure I know what you are talking about. - Dennis Jackson
Oops, nevermind. I just looked at the non-beta site and I remember haha. - Dennis Jackson
Mona :) morning to you too! yes, i m also unable to get around the who tab design and the black text for posted links..eerie aura :) - Hayk Hakobyan
The tabs on the very top, that enable you to toggle between various feeds :) The old friendfeed was (form L -> R): Friends - Rooms - Your Feed - Everyone's (people who you aren't subscribed to, as well as people you are). The new FriendFeed = Your Feed - Comments + Likes - Friends :) - Mona N.
Morning Hayk: Ya, that black text is not easy on the eyes and when I'm scrolling fast, makes me nauseous, like Shey mentioned :( - Mona N.
“Friendfeeders - I need your help for a post! What are your favorite friendfeed rooms? Looking for rooms that can help people. Leave links in the comments if you have a chance. Thanks!”
Free music mixtape service Muxtape has temporarily been shut down due to pressure from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). There's not much more information about downtime besides a small note on the front page of Muxtape.com saying that "Muxtape will be unavailable for a brief period while we sort out a problem with the RIAA." - Dave Winer via Bookmarklet
When are firms going to realise that disrupting markets using Robin Hood tactics have no business model. Yikes!!! - Sean Kelly
Ha! and here I thought something was wrong with me for not being able to keep up. :-P - Chris Kim A
I think the real potential for shared feeds and link blogs isn't so much to see which stories are being shared the most, but to be able to find authorities in different fields (gadgets, development, etc) sharing the best items. - Costa Walcott
Yeah, I agree. They post way too much fluff for it to be a usable site. If you are filling up the 200 feed bucket on an almost daily basis, then you are putting out too much crap. - AlexScoble(Robert'sBro)
I could do without a lot of it. Like I care what 13 new models of camcorders JVC is launching. Stick to the weird stuff imo! - Geoff Schultz
That's one feed I go through in list view. - Jay Cruz
Engadget has some of the coolest articles but their signal to noise ratio is low. Some of the dumbest stuff comes through. They need to break their feed up into multiple feeds. - Ernie Oporto
My complaint since the first time I encountered Feeds. Usenet Readers (and lets face it, feeds are just a bad implementation of news) had kill and watchfilter plus scoring mechanisms. :o( - Nicole Simon
boing boing gadgets seems to fill the best of the best void without going engadget-like overboard. - Scott Jarkoff
a friend of Thomas Hawk's and brother to Alex. Thanks everyone! Maryam and Milan are playing on the floor, I'll see if they can chime in. - Robert Scoble
Fully fed and assured of more food whenever they wanted it, the youthful oysters turned their energies and attention to their sexual organs, leaving the rest of their system vulnerable to herpes infection. "Once sufficiently nourished to ensure for survival, oysters focus on development of sexual organs — creating sperm and ovaries mostly — and ignore their defense systems" - Brian Johns
dude. This is creepy. And if you've had a goatee long enough, then you'd know how to properly sculpt around it easily.
This is still weird though ;) - Dustin
@mike I just wonder why Disqus and Intense Debate have yet to do this! Its poor that independent blogs like Profy still have to stump for development of these types of features while these 'pro' comment platforms are 'following' rather than leading. - Roger Kondrat
agreed roger, i'm not that concerned about comment fragmentation but i do think that profy has proved that it can be a cake and eat it too environment... - mike "glemak" dunn
regardless of the debate raging around comment ownership on this one the integration is very well done and impressive. i'm hoping disqus will roll out something similar in the near future. - Morgan
“Is it Trollish behavior to attack known FF trolls and inform other folks that they're not worth listening to? It amuses me, but it is kinda immature. What do you think?”
It's the internets. Don't pay attention to trolls. I never do. Every service has a block, hide, or ignore feature. I use that and, if the thread I'm on or post etc has people engaging with the troll I just ignore that too. The less attention you give them, the less the person trolls. My time is better spent in good conversation...not bothering with trolls. - Candace Holly
Thanks Candace. I agree with you and I think I'll try to avoid that. I suppose I had forgotten that said trolls can see what I post anyways through the Everyone tab. I was under the impression that they couldn't. So, I was really just feeding them. - Tad - just Tad
Some times it's nice to warn others who might not know what they are dealing with. I have seen at least one person here try to reason with a known troll, unaware that it would go on and on in an infinite babble battle if they replied, they thanked me and moved on. Some people like to be nice, and trolls can smell that I think, the thrive on it, they will prey on those people given the chance to get some attention out of it. - cmiper
Let each FFer decide who's a troll to them. - Josh Haley
True. I did tell Lindsay about a couple of them a week or so ago. It's still kind of a slippery slope of whether to warn or not - even just doing that gives them some amount of ammunition. - Tad - just Tad
I never said they aren't worth listening to. I just said that who you follow defines you. If you want to be a troll, it's best to listen to a troll. If you want to be smart, it's best to listen to someone like Douglas Engelbart. - Robert Scoble
I think most folks would've realized that they are trolls already. It's not that subtle. - Morton Fox
@Josh, I agree, but when a friend is unaware of a known troll I think it's fair to warn them. To just run around chasing trolls to warn people about them I don't agree with. @Tad, it's probably safer to warn them without being public about it. Trolls usually give up when they can't get attention, letting them know they are being talked about can indeed be fuel for their fire. - cmiper
Scoble - do you consider yourself defined by the thousands of people you follow across the tubez? - Tad - just Tad
@cmiper Good point. It's just if someone were to get a little carried away with the 'hate' on a certain person, they become a bit trollish themselves. And who gets to decide who is a "known troll", really? But yes, I agree that a friendly warning is appropriate, in private if possible. - Josh Haley
@Morton, agreed that most people know who the trolls are, but I have have a few contacts who fall into a non-tech crowd loop over here. They had made a comment about a certain presidential candidate and one of the known trolls used his little copy-paste reply script on her. She started replying to him, unaware of what he was up to. His replies were more script, she had no idea what he was going on about, but was trying not to be rude. In cases like that, I still think it fair to warn without involvement - cmiper
Tad: yes, I +am+ defined by who I follow. I only follow early adopters and influentials and smart people. If you are a troll or a jerk or a spammer or a luddite I won't follow you. - Robert Scoble
Imho, Morton Fox is right... "I think most folks would've realized that they are trolls already" - "Czar" DJ Peterman
@Scoble: those of us you don't choose to follow may indeed still qualify as intelligent, but perhaps our interests don't intersect yours. - Stupid Blogger (aka Tina)
@Josh, yes, it would be trollish to start pointing out trolls. I am glad that nobody has done it in this thread, I think that says something about most of the people we have chosen to follow. ;-) - cmiper
Stupid: well, since I am looking to follow people who are smart I probably didn't follow you because you say you're a "Stupid Blogger." Either way, I followed you anyway now cause I want to see if you make me more intelligent or not. ;-) - Robert Scoble
K, no pressure there or anything *scuttles off to find a way to make Scoble smarter* =) -
