I don't think I could argue that any particular kind of ratio is "best", because if Lurkers like to Lurk and cultivate (via Likes) and the Chatty-ites love to chat, to pump out much many more comments than Likes, each can be happy and make for a great social experience.

Bren, the other thing that can seriously throw off someone's stats is a feed that upon each item it imports adds a comment automatically.

true. that can seriously inflate comment stats, of course. Then you have someone like RAPatton, who posts a gazillion comments, in part because of his playlist posts where he will list each song in a separate comment. I found, after this post in fact, that I tended to "like" things much more frequently than comment on them, that I was lurking instead of participating. I have changed the way I use ff rather considerably, and I think for the better.

Last year my comments were around 7000 and likes around 2500, for a ratio of 2.80. I consciously chose to do more liking over the last year. As of today my comments number 10,782 and likes number 7,666, for a ratio of 1.41.

While we are not 100% sure, it appears to be an issue on Facebook's end due to ignoring application settings. We have disabled all FriendFeed updates to Facebook until we are sure the problem is resolved.

yes, we did the podcast when ff was acquired by the book of face.. watched them absorb the real-time elements and i check in from time to time usually through this post as it brings back very fond memories. google + reminds me of the early days of ff - haven't felt that way about any of the social nets that have come since the facedbooked swallow up. heaven knows we've been on them all and they seem so ancient now -- quora anyone? google got it right with +. think it marks the next era for them.

It doesn't actually do that, Mona. If your account is in Friendfeed, it goes into your feed. Hao Chen is merely making it easier to get the URLs from FriendFeed.

It should be possible to use the Social Graph API to find services that are not imported into Friendfeed as well as friends' services not on FF. It's a bit tricky because it requires a lot of separate requests. Right now, it's only using the SG API to find your subscriptions across the services you import on FF.

Laura, it's not very accurate, but it's supposed to remove links to people's accounts on the other networks you already subscribe to. For example, if I already subscribe to Bob on Twitter, it might remove the link to Bob's Twitter page in the big list.

Glad to hear you guys are finding uses for it. @Russell Right now, the list of services it displays is the list of services being imported by people's FF accounts, and since Blip.fm isn't a supported service yet, I can't add that in easily. I'll think about how to use the Social Graph API more effectively to do those things though.

Moonlighting also took on the fourth wall often enough. It sort of set the prescient for Bruce's look at the audience signature in his cinematic roles that followed.

Oh, and Fraggle Rock as well, if for no other reason, it was Canadian and in the States here you had to have HBO to watch it, so in other words you had to be filthy stinking rich or completely loose with your money to have ever seen this show during its original air. In other words, I had to go my friends' houses to watch it. Also, it had puppets but was much different than either Sesame Street or The Muppet Show.

That's funny, Pete, I myself as a kid only watched Fraggle Rock on occasion at my friends house who had cable (and we certainly didn't at my home). Same for MTV and You Can't Do That On Television, actually.

Ah, I forgot to back my pick up: Night Flight is the most important TV show of the 1980s because it was one of the few shows I can think of that managed to be smart, entertaining, and just out of the mainstream. It felt more like a magazine than a TV show, and in an era before the WWW, it brought a little touch of sophisticated weirdness to people outside the nation's cultural hubs.

Twin Peaks by far. It was the first show since All in the Family to really push the boundaries of what can be accomplished on network television. The next show to do the same thing was NYPD Blue but that was, of course, in the 90s. People tend to forget that shows like LOST wouldn't have existed if it wasn't for Twin Peaks in the same way they forget that Friends wouldn't have existed without Seinfeld.

That's Incredible! (1980-84) Early "reality show" programming with John Davidson, Fran Tarkenton, and Cathy Lee Crosby. IIRC, they had stunts, cool inventions (I remember some kind of fire suppressant blanket), and even talked about things like spontaneous combustion. (No, I don't think it was the "single most important" show, but we watched it regularly. :) )
