I think there were a bunch of spam comments made to some 2009-era posts by FF employees. For some reason even after the spam is nuked, the post stays bumped.

Yes, I blocked a spammer that was bumping old posts about FF themes and what not.

It probably had something to do with the Tornado 2.2 release. I noticed Ben was the one who posted about the release on HN earlier. Edit: Or it could have just been a spammer. *shrugs*
- Jimminy IS Everybody
I don't think it had anything to do with the tornado release - a spammer bumped a bunch of Bret's old posts today.

This is superb. I just showed it to my 5 year old son who enjoys Lego and has already taken some great photos, including one or two of his toys. So now he has the seed of the idea that, in time, he could take multiple stills and put them together to make moving pictures. Thank you very much for posting it and giving me and him that opportunity. Maybe, he might use FriendFeed one day too!

We have received numerous reports of excessive FriendFeed posts showing up in Facebook this evening. While we are not 100% sure, it appears to be an issue on Facebook's end due to ignoring application settings. We have disabled all FriendFeed updates to Facebook until we are sure the problem is resolved.
See http://www.techcrunch.com/2009... for more information - it seems to also have impacted Twitter's Facebook app. Again, we are not sure if it is a problem on our end or not, but we are investigating now.

No problem, if I knew it was on your end, I wouldn't have cared, but thanks for letting me know about the situation. I was confused because it happened right as I was trying out a new twitter game. This was compounded by the fact that the game has no controls for turning off public messages. I'll bet they plan to add them later, but right now they want everyone to hear about it. It’s a...

Hao, this is awesome! Remember how people were saying in the FF Feedback room, how they'd like services to be linked, but not important the feeds? THIS is the temp. solution. WOW. Are you going to implement a way to filter individually?
- Mona Nomura
It doesn't actually do that, Mona. If your account is in Friendfeed, it goes into your feed. Hao Chen is merely making it easier to get the URLs from FriendFeed.
- Mark Trapp
Looks great. I guess I'll have to look into Social Graph API a bit deeper. It's so much faster than FF API for network data.
- Benedikt Koehler
Oops, I meant UN-LINK services so it'll stop pulling into their feed BUT still enable their friends to link to their respective accounts. Thank you for catching that, Mark.
- Mona Nomura
It should be possible to use the Social Graph API to find services that are not imported into Friendfeed as well as friends' services not on FF. It's a bit tricky because it requires a lot of separate requests. Right now, it's only using the SG API to find your subscriptions across the services you import on FF.
- Hao Chen
Thanks, just don't look at the source code. LOL
- Hao Chen
Hao, this is awesome, this is going to save me so much time! Thanks!
- Shey
Very cool. However, my tiny brain is not grokking " Remove Connections Already Subscribed To". Please to explain.
- Laura Norvig
Laura, it's not very accurate, but it's supposed to remove links to people's accounts on the other networks you already subscribe to. For example, if I already subscribe to Bob on Twitter, it might remove the link to Bob's Twitter page in the big list.
- Hao Chen

Hao, this is very cool; I just used it to great success friending last.fm users.

this is so awesome Hao - great job!!!!!!!! look out for random add notifications from me :)
- Morgan
How does that work?I type in some user name in it,nothing happen...
- Steve Chou
Steve, what browser are you using? Any JavaScript errors?
- Hao Chen
Glad to hear you guys are finding uses for it. @Russell Right now, the list of services it displays is the list of services being imported by people's FF accounts, and since Blip.fm isn't a supported service yet, I can't add that in easily. I'll think about how to use the Social Graph API more effectively to do those things though.
- Hao Chen
This is just excellent, not wholly accurate like you say but brilliant. Now all I need is to add more contacts on FF ;-)
- Kol Tregaskes
Never seems to work for my own username.
- Andrew Trinh
Thanks, guys. :) Andrew, ah, looks like Social Graph doesn't see your FF subscriptions for some reason. http://socialgraph-resources.g... I'll re-code this using the Friendfeed API to get your subscriptions later.
- Hao Chen
Very cool Hao! I like seeing which less-common services people actually use. My list (and top 25 services) is http://friendfeed.com/e... Does your system count me twice for YouTube because I have 2 YouTubes? (seems like it might, from the Blog counts).
- Mitchell Tsai
It's not working for me either when I input my username.
- Steve Lowe
Ditto steplow. Looks like it should be awesome but sadly it's drawing a blank for my username. :(

Don't say another Goddamn word. Up until now, I've been polite. If you say anything else - word one - I will kill myself. And when my tainted spirit finds its destination, I will topple the master of that dark place. - http://www.penny-arcade.com/comic...
From my black throne, I will lash together a machine of bone and blood, and fueled by my hatred for you this fear engine will bore a hole between this world and that one. When It begins, you will hear the sound of children screaming - as though from a great distance. A smoking orb of nothing will grow above youi bed, and from it will emerge a thousand starving crows. As I slip through the widening maw in my new form, you will catch only a glimpse of my radiance before you are incinerated. Then, as tears of bubbling pitch stream down my face, my dark work will begin... I will open one of my six mouths, and I will sing the song that ends the Earth.

"You'd think Wolverine, Batman, Superman, Catwoman and Iron Man would collectively hold enough superpower to keep the cops at bay. But with the Hall of Justice unavailable, a group of street performers nicknamed the Hollywood Characters aired their beef against the Los Angeles Police Department in federal court. And on Wednesday, a judge ordered the LAPD to stop harassing and arresting them as they perform on Hollywood Boulevard for pocket change. The four street performers who sued had argued they were wrongly arrested and intimidated by the LAPD. U.S. District Judge Dean Pregerson ruled that the characters had a First Amendment and Fourth Amendment right to remain on the public sidewalk free from police persecution as long as they were not blocking the walkway or overzealously demanding change. "The court is further sensitive that although costumed performance may not be a traditional form of speech, it is without doubt a protected one," (.pdf) Pregerson ruled."

"We're delighted to announce that Y Combinator is getting two new partners, the first we've added since we started YC in 2005. In case anyone doesn't already know who he is, Paul Buchheit was responsible for three of the best things Google has done: he wrote GMail, built the original prototype of AdSense, and came up with the phrase "Don't be evil." After leaving Google he started FriendFeed, which last year became Facebook's largest acquisition to date. He's a good friend as well as one of the world's best hackers; for years we've considered him an honorary YC partner. We hired Harj Taggar earlier this year to work advising startups alongside me. He wasn't technically a partner, but we quickly realized that he was one de facto—that among us his opinion carried as much weight as any of ours—and that it would be mean of us to delay recognizing this officially. Harj's arrival significantly improved how well YC operated. He's a large part of the reason we were able to fund 36 startups in the summer 2010 cycle."

Would love if you guys devised a new concept: 2nd-shift startup. Many of us are working jobs we need and/or love, but are trying to build a new thing in the background. Having a bit of money, support, and networking would make all the difference. We're completely alone until we make the big leap. And many with families and bills can't think about leaping into Paul G's YC experience.
- Christopher Galtenberg
Congrats Paul. Are you going to do that *and* stay at Facebook? And have time for the family?
- Joe Beda
You have to stay at Facebook at least long enough to get that damn search fixed!
- Gabe
No, I'll be leaving Facebook to join YC.
- Paul Buchheit
Also, I made some search changes a few days ago so it should be working a little better now.
- Paul Buchheit
Congrats and best of luck to you at YC. Sorry to hear you won't be able to make further FF tweaks in the future, though!
- Stephen Mack #TeamMomo
Paul, was one of the changes preventing people who aren't logged in from searching? I can't believe that would have as much of an effect on search as it may have been.
- Akiva
It's interesting. I remember seeing you shortly after you sold FriendFeed and hearing you advise a startup on what they should do. I thought you were great at that, and I guess that is a real passion. YCombinator is an amazing organization, can't wait to see what you do there.

Congratulations on following your heart!

I'm also wondering if this has any impact on FriendFeed. Certainly there's one fewer voice inside FriendFeed protecting the service. I wonder if Paul can tell the community now what he expects to happen to the service. Already a good chunk of the FriendFeed team has left.

Paul: I doubt you can answer this one, either, but I'd love to know what it is about Facebook that is already pushing away entrepreneurial types. It looks like it's becoming a big company, with all the politics and such. I was expecting you to make a much bigger impact there long term than it looks like you've been able to make.
