Helping James & Jeff install a new motor on the sea water intake pump for Crary Lab. Just another day at the office.
Today is my first day as an Electrical Helper - I'm a little nervous, but really excited at the same time.
We did volunteer trail maintenance today (our day off) on the Ob Hill Loop. Lots of fun, and they paid us with Ross Island Trail placards!
It was a mellow Saturday Night for Robin & Me, but we DID go to Southern for a bit and we DID win a round of darts against Brian & Jeremy.
Today was my last day in the Plumb Shop, and I'll be reporting to the Electrical Shop first thing Monday morning - from Pinky to Sparky.
Using the band saw, we cut a Backflow Prevention Valve in half (for training purposes) and I got to sandblast it clean at the Heavy Shop. :)
"The concept of progress acts as a protective mechanism to shield us from the terrors of the future." - Dune
Robin introduced me to Dagoba Lavender & Blueberry Dark Chocolate yesterday. Yum! But, why does it contain "less than 0.1%" milk? Curious.
"I ain't got SHIT figured out." - Walter the Plumber
League Soccer premiered tonight! The Vincent Massif Blues (my team) were victorious over the Cape Washington Latics, 16 to 13. Great game!
Today is my ONE MONTH anniversary back in Antarctica. It's been pretty great so far, and I have a feeling that it's only gonna get better.
Robin stayed home sick today, so I went home at lunch to cuddle. After work I brought DINNER FOR TWO back to the room - it's so romantic.
"Don't let FEAR and COMMON SENSE hold you back!" - Walter the Plumber, as he was pretending to fight Ken.
I just became friends with Walter the Plumber on Facebook, and you should too - http://www.facebook.com/people.... Call him a TROLL if you get a chance.
A lot of the South Pole winter-overs are stopping at McMurdo on their home. It blows my mind trying to imagine what that would be like.
The 2nd band practice for WE HAD TO KILL THE DOGS FOR MEAT (on Wed) was only Me (drums), Ralph (Keys), & Nathan (Bass), and we STILL rocked.
Ryan (from The Homestead) just arrived in McMurdo & he leaves for the South Pole TMRW! We did Ob Hill, Scott Base, Southern, & Gallaghers.
I rocked out to Pork Soda (Primus) this afternoon while grinding the coating off some 2" steel pipe. It's been so long and I still love it.
It's OFFICIAL! I just signed my "amended" offer letter, promoting me from Plumber Assistant to Electrical Helper. That's $100 more per week!
Robin found 2 packs of Stonewall's (Vegan) Jerquee ystrdy while she was at Marble Point (helicopter gas station). So random, so delicious.
I'm thinking about making my Twitter account private (but still having it post to Facebook). Can you think of a reason not to?
Robin went to Marble Point for the day (on a helicopter!!) with Zach the Painter, so I saved some chocolate chip cookies for her from lunch.
Robin had a hangout date tonight with Brodie, so I went to Gallagher's for some arcade Galaga action! I'm pretty bad, but I like it.
I spent the whole day in the Plumb Shop fitting 3 new boilers for a pressure test. We gotta make sure they don't leak before we install 'em.
Sneak preview of the first episode from the new BBC series LIFE. It was pretty good, but a bit more sensational than PLANET EARTH.
I spent most of the day with Justin putting in a new sprayer thing on the sink in the Salad Room. It's strange being back in the Galley.
@veganstraightedge I bought that in book form a couple months ago and it was pretty hilarious when @n8duke and I read through it.
Robin and I watched THE IRON GIANT last night. It was her first time seeing it and she said it was "OK." Really?
Rugby practice at the Big Gym, then a lovely dinner with Robin and Boston Jackie, then a quick hike out to Hut Point, then movie? Bed time?
