My new Canon T1i shit the bed this morning and won't stop giving me "Err 20 - Shooting is not possible. Turn the camera off and on again."
The whole time we were watching HOME ALONE last night, Robin wouldn't shut up about Kevin's hat. She's obsessed and looking for one on eBay.
After brunch, we went out to the Sea Ice Transition for the Rugby Touch Tourney (US & NZ). It was pretty fun, and my team came in 2nd place.
Watching the Arkansas vs LSU game in the HoCal Lounge. Overtime in College Football is weird - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki.... No game clock? Really?
"Eww, what is this? I poked it with my fork and it made poopie." - Zach the Fuelie about a Thanksgiving UFO (Unidentified Food Object)
I have had to "dig deep" at least FOUR times today (waking up [twice], running the Turkey Trot, going back for seconds): I am EXHAUSTED.
After the Turkey Trot and a quick breakfast, Robin & I went on a tour of Discovery Hut - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki.... Third season's the charm.
I am stuffed beyond capacity and will burst at any moment: it's the perfect time for HOME ALONE in the HoCal Lounge.
First thing this morning I ran the McMurdo Turkey Trot 5K (in 23:50) and Robin was the Official Time Keeper. It destroys me every year.
Molly the Fuelie joggled the ENTIRE MCM Turkey Trot 5K. Yeah, joggled - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki..., it's a Portmanteau Word - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki....
It's Friday Night in Antarctica, like a REAL Friday Night & a 2-day weekend coming up (I know, 2 whole days, what a concept). Thanksgiving!
"Just a little disclaimer, sometimes Pinot Noir makes me crabby." - Robin
My soccer team (The Vincent Massif Blues) had another successful match tonight. So far we are 3 and 1, and we're all having a great time.
I survived my first week of Heat Trace Duty with very few scars. I've got one more week and then I'm back to the Electrical Shop.
We've got a bedroom, office, dinning room, kitchen, and living room, and the other day we added a bathroom: a few pee bottles in the corner.
You know you're in the company of gentlemen when dinner conversations revolve primarily around farts and wieners. Good times.
There are a bunch of new "dual flush" toilets at McMurdo, which is awesome, but they are so prone to splash-back. Boo!
The copious amounts of soft and sweet dates (the fruit) this season has been awesome. They are nature's candy.
I found a bunch of DRY ICE outside Crary Lab this afternoon, and took some of it to 3 o'clock break to put in a glass of water. Bubbles!
The snow and ice is really starting to melt around here: there are hundreds of little streams running in all directions down hill.
Today on Heat Trace Duty: uncovered a mini ice cave (with ice crystals) and dug a trench to divert melt water away from the work site.
I finally got a key to the Industrial Sewing Machine in the Craft Room and I'm finally gonna make a new belt out of an old safety harness.
Today was my first day of Heat Trace Duty, and I actually sorta had fun jack-hammering and hunting for pipes buried in the ice.
Rugby practice was great today, my 1st scrimmage on the Sea Ice. It's a lot of fun throwing your body around & going all out. I want more.
After dinner Robin & I went to Gallaghers to witness the magic: Danny Gregory got to Stage 135 on Galaga & racked up 1,941,000 points. Wow.
The snow was coming down hard again last night, and the wind is blowing strong again this afternoon. The Delta Trips are having a hard time.
I got back to McMurdo ystrdy at noon and got right back in the swing of things: cuddling, band practice, dinner, and a gig at the BFC!
Check out the 2nd photo in this Flickr gallery - http://www.flickr.com/photos.... Dad, I'm looking in your direction. [The link works this time.]
I wore my DA shirt the ENTIRE time I was at Lake Fryxell. In fact, the ONLY clothing items I changed were my socks. I got a little stinky.
My photo is going to be used in a 3rd Grade Science text book for the Vasant Valley School in New Delhi, India - http://www.flickr.com/photos....
