@iuliamentis I hope the Martian death flu passes quickly.
@steve_buchheit I found the magic setting in TextEdit that turns off RTF, as God intended. (I'm used to Wordpad=RTF, Notepad=.txt)
@green_knight Aha! There's a setting "Ignore rich text commands in HTML documents". Guess what it does. Thanks!
@iuliamentis Yuck, sorry.
Why won't TextEdit handle html files properly and let me see the code? Now I have to relearn all the emacs I forgot once I quit using pine.
Suddenly realized I should have an elevator pitch for my WIP for WindyCon this weekend bc at least one person is sure to ask what it's about
Wonder if anyone will notice if I spend the rest of the write-in napping instead of writing.
Today, the coffee shop had decaf beans. This write-in is now latte-powered.
Failing to type in Dvorak one-handed at a reasonable speed.
Sore all over, and more yard work needs to happen tomorrow. But there's a new vegetable bed in the front yard!
@zeborah It seems to have worked.

@green_knight Do you have a book on structure that you like better? This one happens to fit what I was already doing (bc I'd read Swain).
@green_knight I guess. There's a lot of variation in "worse", like "things got worse but character doesn't know it yet".
Sickness is spreading through my department. Not good!
@green_knight (What I didn't like re Bickham's excerpts was the genre and the maleness.)
@green_knight (I mean, how would I be able to tell?) I do plan to analyze some books and see how they use the patterns.
@green_knight From the examples, I don't think I'd like Bickham's books, but afaik I haven't read a book where the author used S&S.
@mhhall I've heard more criticism of it than good things. It addresses issues I'm working on now; earlier, it wouldn't have been as useful.
Bickham's Scene and Structure is my new favorite book on writing.
@merriehaskell TwitterGadget has your namechange tweet w the new name and the rest w the old name. And now I click fairmer and y dont exist

The only reason oblivious pedestrians are less annoying than oblivious drivers is because they're less likely to kill me.
I love biking home in pitch dark. Can't wait for spring.
@incitata I'd rake them for you if it wasn't halfway across the country.
"Your [characters] are not wholly logical robots" - Jack Bickham. I like to think of them as robots programmed to act irrationally sometimes
@iuliamentis Yeah, but it'll be dark by the time you leave.
