So what are your thoughts on #Facebook's acquisition of #FriendFeed? Do you think it's a good thing, bad thing? What do you think Facebook will bring to FriendFeed, and vice versa? What changes do you see happening to FriendFeed? Will FF be integrated into FF?
il_fullxfull.82049178.jpg
il_fullxfull.75969378.jpg
I hope it's a good thing, but I'm pretty sure it will turn out to be a bad, bad thing. - Irma Vermaat
bad thing. I have a feeling FF will slowly disappear. Facebook will get marginally better. - Dusty Edenfield
what I have to say? I just hope that nothing will change for the users and that FF continue to improve our experience - Roberto
Ask me again in 6 months--if you still can. - Steve Lowe
It will be a great thing. With more people the FriendFeed experience will explode - Marcus
I share Roberto's opinion... - Chiara Lorè
Facebook was looking to implement more of a public twitter-style thing, but a lot of users didn't like that it seemed to be making private conversations more public. If they could keep them separate in some ways, this could solve that. This could be the public facing side of Facebook. I think its a good thing. - Ryan Massie
Not sure how my friends on Facebook will appreciate all the added stuff in my stream if they decide to integrate like that. I wouldn't mind as long as the core friendfeed functionality is there. Along with the search, filters and group features. We'll see, though - Fox
FriendBook? Facefeed? What will this new marriage be called? - Manu Ullas
Well, it can only help FB. I don't know what is going to happen to FF. Guess that is what is worrisome. I liked this place. - Yolanda
It would be great if FB promote FF a lot as FF would get the millions and millions of users from FB. But surely FF will be integrated into FB at some point. I feel very sad atm. I hope I'm wrong. - Kol Tregaskes
imho, it's good for many reasons, both for FF and FB. Better integration, content based advertising (based on comments, discussion topics and demographics on FB account) etc. FB successfully established a networking platform, yet, still couldn't be able to establish a healthy conversation platform (look for the useless fan pages + groups). FF would do it. It may also be the end of forum culture, and so... - Eren Kumcuoğlu
Not sure what comes out of it. Hopefully both services are kept separate as I use them for separate purposes. - Oliver Bouchard
Yeah, I agree Oliver. I use them both for separate purposes too. Not sure all my friends on facebook would be interested on all my shared stuff on friendfeed. - Dan Smith
Personally, I think it is the beginning of the end of FF from user perspective. From FF team perspective it is the end of the beginning. - Dilip Dand
Bad, bad, bad news. - Louise Bolotin
thumbs down .. I would have had it the other way around :) - Peter Theill
The only good news is that we'll see the end of "Show X new posts" in facebook soon when they adopt friendfeeds real-time feed - Oliver Bouchard from IM
I agree with Oliver Bouchard. That's something that Facebook has been lacking for quite a while. And I hate having to reload the whole pig of a Facebook page. - Manu Ullas
I'm happy for the FriendFeed team, it's great news for them but I can't help think that we can't have the two sites running side by side for too long. - Kol Tregaskes
Great thing for FriendFeed employees who manage not to be laid off. Bad thing for those who are laid off. Bad thing for FriendFeed users, many of whom came here to AVOID Facebook's persistent privacy problems. - D0r0th34
I don't like the news, I preferred the two being separate; as far as I was concerned they were 2 separate networks for different groups of people. - Arthur Guy
congrats to the FF team. They made a great service! - Peter Theill
I just hope we can export the data before the site closes... that's going to be the biggest sadness... so much content that would be really disheartening to lose if the site closed completely - Nathan Chase
congrats to FriendFeed! facebook tried to mimic the service with real-time profile updates but the FF technology is apparently too good and UI too smooth that they had to buy it! I'd imagine facebook integrates the technology without using the Friendfeed name so as not to corrupt the native FF community with n00bs - Andy Sternberg
@cavlec Friendfeed doesn't have privacy problems, because it doesn't have privacy. But it will be a challenge for fb/ff to merge their streams without making the ff stream too private and the fb stream too public. - Oliver Bouchard from IM
Oliver... FriendFed has privacy in some very important ways: (1) Private feeds (2) private rooms (3) most importantly... you don't have to cough up any personal information to have an account on FF. - LogEx
FF teams have made a great and simple tool, so congrats to them, but I don't like the FB aproach and hope this will not "mixed" too much. Is it the "market law"? - Véronique Rabuteau
I'm worried that FriendFeed will turn into a walled garden like Facebook. I'm also worried by Facebook's repeated attempts to take ownership of users' content. Plus they don't really have a reputation for responsiveness to user concerns. - John (a.k.a. dendroica)
John I agree with you. The public outcry to the change in their ToS was what made them back off. - Manu Ullas
Agree with you 2 John. - Véronique Rabuteau
Too early to have an opinion... - Rasmus Lauridsen
logicalextremes: that's true. But friendfeed doesn't by far have as much private information as facebook. - Oliver Bouchard from IM
Not sure just yet, I think it will bring more users, but I love the tools that FF provides, not sure that FB will be able to integrate FF into FB interface and still provide access to all the great features that FF offers now? - Brian
if FB bought FF is because they want to make money out of it. Therefore even if they keep it separate they will put ads on FF. But what I am most scared about is the proliferation of stupid applications and silly games with the only puprose of doing aggressive marketing. - gibilix
I think it's a bad idea. Twitter is full of automatic spam and Facebook is full or redundant apps. We need an independent platform somewhere to hide from the clamor of social circuses - Houseofmax
Not a good thing for FriendFeed. - Bryan R. Adams
:( - edythe from iPhone
bir yastıkta kocasınlar - şafak O
As far as technology, I think they need it mainly for their Social-TV initiative to work, besides the obvious other services they offer. Most people are unaware that they have been continually upgrading their interactive/socialTV service over the last six months. They have already had two pay-per-view events which sold out at $66 a ticket. Facebook kept $22 and the balance went to... more... - Michael Fidler
I'm not very happy about it, but as long as Facebook leave it alone I'll be fine. Where else do we go? - Simon Tracey
Eh things like this mostly bad. - MR A
Wish I knew what they were up to. What I wouldn't do to be a fly on the wall in that room! - Toyota of Bellevue
Don't really know what to think. I use FF and FB for completely different things, so I don't want FF to go away. On the other hand, if FF disappears I'll have a bit more free time until I discover the next cool site. - Elizabeth
Elizabeth, well said! That's how I feel too. - Michael Fidler

Advice Needed: I have to recommend a Sci-fi/Fantasy book to a 50+ year old woman who loves to read (20 books ever two weeks) but who has never read a Sci-Fi or fantasy book. She is fairly conservative and even used to be a Nun. She really likes mysteries and thrillers.
I'm looking for a suggested book that will give her a very positive introduction to the Genre so that she will return for more. So throw out your best advice. - Bill Rawlinson
Mary Doria Russell: The Sparrow (1996). Much appreciated as both sf and main stream literature. Won the Arthur C. Clarke Award. - Peter
well I had hoped for a little more feedback. Thanks Peter. I checked out the blurb on Amazon and it sounds like a good choice. I like Russell's writing (I've read her novel "A Thread of Grace") so I think I'll run with your suggestion. - Bill Rawlinson
start will some of the classics, the older stuff is usually a little more conservitive. starship trooper will get her hooked, then the I robot series of short stories. then bam Harry turtledove guns of the south. hope that helps - Lon Widdicombe
Maybe Tamara Siler Jones? Set in a medieval Europe type setting, and they're basically police procedurals, with magic. 1st one is Ghosts in the Snow. Threads of Malice was a bit gory, though. - Elizabeth

Who rides a bicycle? What type of bike do you ride and where do you cycle? To work, for pleasure, what's your favourite places?
cyclist-crashes-flips-over-bicycle-mid-air-blooper-picture.jpg
I have a Giant XTC mountain bike which has been used for both work and pleasure. I rode to work when living in Berkshire which was virtually all along a canal. I used to get out every weekend morning too to a ride around town but not done much since moving to Kent. - Kol Tregaskes
I ride a Charge Duster. I've been a bit busy this year, hardly been out at all this year. i think next week I'll risk life and limb on the roads and cycle to work. - Ho
Kol, depending where in kent you are, there are nice rides around. even if you have to hop over to Surrey. - Ho
I do. Trek Soho Urban 3. Love it, when it's not being stolen (or run over with me on it.) mostly around Venice / Santa Monica / Marina Del Rey area... - Anthony Citrano from BuddyFeed
I have a red bike that's a hand me down from my mom. :) I'm not a bike fanatic, obviously, but I like to commute when it's not raining, run errands, and ride for fun. - Elizabeth
I have a Rodriguez U2 (see http://www.rodcycle.com/) that I ride to work every day, all year round, and on errands, and for some recreational rides as well. With Schwalbe Marathon Supremes, I can handle the road, gravel trails, and even hard-packed dirt trails. - Tommy Williams
Ho, more details please? :-) I'm on the Kent/Surrey border. - Kol Tregaskes
I have a Giant Defy road bike. I use it for pleasure. I am actually doing a ride this Sunday, and then a century ride on June 14th. My favorite place is this trail around here that is called the WO&D trail. It use to be train tracks that they turned into a trail. - Shevonne
I ride to school and back every day. It's about a four minute trek. The route is rather idyllic: nice houses, cool breeze, and plenty of shade from trees. - Carlton Prest
My wife and I have these (http://radio.weblogs.com/0127028...) -- so called "comfort bikes" - we regularly do 60km per week during the summer on urban (Toronto) bike trails and rail trails. Last year we also biked the Niagara Circle (~150km) and this year will do the "P'tit Train du Nord" trail in Quebec. - Brian Sullivan
My wife and I have Specialized comfort bikes. Just take it around our neighborhood and park trails every now and again. - ronin
Electra Townie 21. Perfect city cruiser. - Christopher Harley
Trek Navigator 3.0 (http://www.trekbikes.com/women...). It's a grandma bike, and is as slow as molasses, but I like it. I've added a basket to the front, a rack to the rear, and front/rear fenders. I use it to run errands and to ride to work when the weather's good. Favourite places to ride are the dikes in Richmond and Maple Ridge, BC. The flatter the better. - cecily
I just replaced my 20 yr old mongoose with a Trek 3900.... I love it. I live biking distance from Devil's Gulch and other sweet trails, even a nice paved 11 mile loop trail along the Columbia River. My town loves bikers. - suzanne
I have a Fuji Nevada 3.5... which is really just the Fuji Police bike with the "POLICE" lettering covered up with a sticker. I bike to work and ride all over the silicon valley area for fun, starting to average over 100 miles per week. - Wirehead
Marin Pioneer Trail (2007), used mainly for leisure and errands around the home town. At the time it was the only bike I could find in stock anywhere that had a large enough frame, and I seriously love it. *Might* be picking up the '09 version later this year and then I can have this current one locked up at the station in London and use it to do the final leg to work each day. - Andy Bold
Dahon Speed D7 folding bike. I ride it to work. about 3 miles each way. - John Wang
Do any of you take part in any events or tournaments? - Kol Tregaskes
Not me -- I am generally anti-social (at least when it comes to lots of people). - Brian Sullivan
It's a skateboard all the way for me - 2 wheels bad, 4 (urethane) wheels good. - Iain Baker
I have a Raleigh road bike that I use for running errands around the neighborhood. - Tom Harrison
2 years ago, I did 50 mile Tour de Tendring, in preparation for a charity bike ride from Colchester to Aylesbury (100 miles). I would like to do a 12 or 24 hour endurance mtb ride one day, but getting a group together is a bit tough. - Ho

Diet, not lack of exercise, to blame for obesity - Times Online
Show all
"Over-eating rather than more sedentary living is almost entirely to blame for the rise in obesity in the developed world in recent decades, according to research. A study of the US obesity epidemic — a precursor of dietary trends around the world — suggests that there has not been any significant reduction in levels of physical exercise in the past 30 years. It concludes that the surge in obesity is a result of excessive consumption of calories. The research team, from the World Health Organisation Collaborating Centre for Obesity Prevention, at Deakin University in Australia, said that the findings held for other industrialised countries such as Britain." - RAPatton from Bookmarklet
"He said that US children had grown on average 9lb heavier over the past three decades with adults putting on an extra 17lb. For the US population to return to leaner 1970s levels children would have to cut their intake by about 350 calories a day — equal to one can of fizzy drink and a small portion of fries, and adults by about 500 calories — about the same as a Big Mac burger.... more... - RAPatton
Too bad I don't eat a big mac a day. - Elizabeth
I'm pretty sure it's my lack of exercise. - Derrick
Exercise is a pretty tough way to lose weight. Walking a mile burns 100 calories and candy bar has 200. Our hunter-gather ancestors burned about 700 calories more a day than we do so they could have absorbed the number of calories we eat, but it's easy for us to live with almost no work at all. Not an easy to deal with situation. - Todd Hoff
Derrick, I think its both for me. - Amber, Random Time Lord
According to research there will be another piece of research along in five minutes disputing this research and insisting that its research is better research than the previous research and any further research that might oppose this particular research should be ignored unless said research is carried out by the same researchers who received funds for this research. - Mark H
Definitely lack of exercise here. But I'm not the norm, either. - Roger Benningfield
in people 14-25 that I know personally, I am seeing a pattern of severe reduction of amount eaten. maybe it's meaningless (too small sample size) but it seems like they are all near starving themselves (1200cal for 5'8" 160lb girl at age 17 for example) - mjc
it is a mistake to calculate the effect of exercise based solely on calories burned while performing the activity. it is also a mistake to publish an article about a scientific study without providing a reference to the study. - tim

Boil Eggs in Cold Water. Who knew? - Daniel Krech from Bookmarklet
Seems a tad difficult... Maybe at very low pressure. - Elizabeth
Starting the eggs in cold water, then boiling them is an old culinary trick - it cooks them more slowly, so the proteins don't coagulate as fast, leaving the boiled egg with a better texture. Taking this idea to its extreme, you can simply equilibrate an egg to 68C and it will be very soft, yet cooked through. This general idea can be applied to all cooking of proteins - low and slow makes it the most tender. The technique called sous-vide uses this idea. - Mr. Gunn
And that's how I learned to do it. Thanks grandma! - Katy S

We updated the FriendFeed Beta navigation and sidebar based on people's feedback: http://beta.friendfeed.com/
Picture 2.png
We have separated Groups (the new name for "Rooms") into its own section, and we have renamed "filters" to "Saved searches" to make things simpler/clearer. Saved searches have simper URLs that can be shared, and friend list operations have all been added/cleaned up. - Bret Taylor
Nice - looks much cleaner. - Robin Barooah
Nice, better navigation - Nimaa
Our primary goal was making Groups more useful again. The friend search / group search functionality is now separate and much easier to use. - Bret Taylor
excellent, much clearer - Don Bonaddio
So the "Top Friends" option that used to be showing is now gone. Works fine. - Louis Gray
That works awesome with the "group" I just put together consisting of all my rss feeds from google reader. - James Ostheimer
I like this change. Also, I apparently like boats. - Ana
I dunno, it's possible to be an enthusiast but not like something. - Casey Muller
Thank you! - BEX
Thank you I love the new navigation. - Russ Jackson
We have also added Atom feeds, Block, and a number of other small missing components. - Bret Taylor
Organization is a good thing. Thanks and keep it coming. The subtle stuff will come. Color customization, etc. I think the main think is make it look dead easy, with the advanced user stuff just a little symbol or click away... - kilbuda
Much better! - Andrew
Thanks !!! - Eric Logan
i like being able to statically set the groups it shows me on the side now. - rob friedman
Very cool. Much simpler. Any chance of being able to rearrange the blocks a la iGoogle in the future? Saved Searches were mighty convenient up at the top. - Mark Trapp
Yes, rearranging and theming are both things we would like to do. - Bret Taylor
I wondered what happened ! - LPH™ and his dog P™
Theming? Whoa. - Mark Trapp
Like Mark Trapp's idea. - kilbuda
+++ Thanks! - .LAG liked that
@Rob, you still can set the groups that show up by clicking on "prefs" in the orange bar. - Ana
Where did the create feed/imaginary friend substitute function go? - Brian Sullivan
@Ana, I just said I liked it. :) I didn't see the ability to change what was shown there prior to this change. It just seemed like a random sampling of the groups I'm on before. - rob friedman
Excellent. Very glad to see the "Browse/edit friends" link. I look forward to being able to rearrange to put my saved searches at the top. - Elizabeth
Nice, but I use filters (well, now saved searches) more than I do my friend lists. Personally I prefer it the way it was, although I'd be happy just to have filters bumped up some (I got a _lot_ of lists to scroll past). - Chris, Taskerrific Guy
@Brian, I dont think the imaginary friend stuff is in the beta interface yet, I had to use the old UI to add a few yesterday. - rob friedman
I like the new separation much more than old layout. Being able to rearrange placement of these blocks would be nice but not essential. - Boris Gordon
Better, but you really gotta do something about that color scheme. - mike fabio
Great work! Would be really nice to get the last modified time back next to the title of the groups. That saved me a lot of unnecessary clicks in the non-beta version. - Christoph Studer
Boris: Not essential, that's true, but extremely useful. - Chris, Taskerrific Guy
rob friendman -- I am talking about the create a feed function that allowed you to create the equivalent of imaginary friends. - Brian Sullivan
I still think that the "My discussions" link under Friends should really be "My likes and comments", since there are some posts in that feed that are just ones I "liked" and have 0 comments, from me or anyone else. Would you call a post with no comments a "discussion"? - Nathan Chase
Nathan: you are right, those should probably not be in that feed. - Bret Taylor
We are still working out imaginary friends functionality. It is on our radar. - Bret Taylor
Nice. An improvement in my book. - AJ Kohn
I like it. Now give us skins so we can change the color scheme. I also wish I could put searches at top. - Robert Scoble
Bret: cool - just a little semantic thing I figured you might have overlooked - and something that could be confusing for new users. - Nathan Chase
Bret, you guys have moved the filters to the bottom of the sidebar. Can you please put them back to where they were? - Kol Tregaskes
I like separate groups. As for positioning - it would be easy to make the boxes draggable, so people can order them how they like? - Neil Saunders
anyway i can switch my account totally over to the beta UI? so any ff link i click on goes to the beta....thx - patrick
let me choose the sequence of the boxes - like "saved searches" on top! - Kishore Balakrishnan
Agreed a nice dark skin would be awesome - Kashif Khan
Can we have the "last modified time" back for each individual group? Anyway, this navigation is much better. Thanks! - Winston Teo
agree with Neil Saunders - پـرستووو
Still wish there was a way to hide the top and side bars for use in a widget style browser window. Till then there's always greasemonkey http://is.gd/rBrh - KyleHase from twhirl
Thanks, Bret. You guys -- FF team and product -- are awesome! - Eric Johnson
Thank you Thank you Thank you! Loving the beta and the FFteam's responsiveness - Keith - @tsudo
Why is this showing up in my timeline? It says because one of the people I'm subscribed to Liked it. I'm not a member of the room and I'm not subscribed to the original poster (Sorry Bret!) But I swear I've turned off FoaF every day and this keeps happening. - Paul Reynolds
Its enuf, men, give me more updated info plz. - kelvin from IM
We have more consistent terminology now; good. Now can we have more sophisticated feed-composition tools? How about one-touch "create group from saved search"? And how about fixing the "private group - standard FEED - public group" inconsistency? - Karl Knechtel
I don't think we need full skinning capabilities - just a colour chooser for each coloured element. Also, the prefs link for Groups is a bit ugly. I don't like magically appearing links. - Karl Knechtel
Overall, big improvements, guys. :) - Karl Knechtel
@patrick: every element of the beta UI should have a beta URL already. Any links that you click in posts are whatever URL is actually specified in the post. - Karl Knechtel
Bret, this is great news. I'll leave the cosmetics to better people. I like things as is :) - Deepak Singh
@Paul Reynolds: FoaF can be turned off? - Karl Knechtel

Nice improvements, FF team. - Micah Wittman
Yes! Thank You! You guys are awesome! - Alfredo
I love it - especially the filters at the bottom (I use Lists, more often). That said, I like Kishore's suggestion -> let us choose the ordering of the boxes. - Ahsan Ali aka. Slick
Very good improvement, but would like to have another box of favorite friends. I wouldn't mind if I could set this up like the groups box, or if it would just remember who I clicked on the most. - guruvan (Rob Nelson)
Simpler... When is the mobile version coming out? - Brian Kenyon
Well done. - Steven Perez
Bret: theming? Please elaborate! - Ryan Miller
Thank you! - Kemal Hadimli
It is awesome Bret! - Akira Kojima Simpson from twhirl
I would really appreciate if we could drag and drop items and boxes. I want to order all this. - Stanislas Jourdan
While the new sidebar order is good, I'm having fun getting rid of two saved searches which only bring up an "edit new filter/search page. It'd be nice to have some way to edit/delete searches, like with the groups and friends boxes. Still waiting for someone to give me a tip on how to remove those two links from the list otherwise. - George Hall (Australia)
George: Click the "Saved Searches" title, then select the feed from the left-hand side, then click Delete. - Karl Knechtel
much better! - Dobromir Hadzhiev
like it! only thing i don't like is that i have to scroll down everytime i wanna see my saves searches now... - Peter Efland
Peter, yep to me that's in completely the wrong place. It's the second most important new feature on FF (behind real-time) and it's now "hidden" at the bottom. I have a large list of Groups and means big scroll down to the Saved Searches, which I use a LOT. Please either return them back to the second tab down or give us the option to select what sidebars we have and what order they appear on the bar? - Kol Tregaskes
Bret, this is great, especially being able to see all of my groups. But I agree with just about everyone else, I'd prefer to have my saved searches above groups. There is still enough room to add subscriptions as well . . . maybe?? - Chris Loft
Nice change. Please sort out the color palette next :-) - Alex Gawley
I like it, although the name filter was better, I think. Besides putting the Searches under Friends, it would be good if the Groups would change order in relation to recent activity, like it used to be. - Alejandro
I like the way things are separated, now. However, I too have a lot of lists to scroll past to get to groups and saved searches. It would be nice to move the saved searches and groups above the lists. Definitely loving the beta, though! - Seth Greenblatt
Hmmm.... I still cannot edit a list created from the "likes" of my friends. The UI doesn't allow me to manage the friend list. I cannot tell the likes to which I'm subscribed or add/remove others. - Anthony K. Valley ©
much better now - Mahsa Z
A number of feeds I set up are showing as Groups. Is that right? I set up a number of Twitter feeds (e.g. "Twitter - Al Yankovic") for nonFF Tweeters. It's a little confusing since now they're listed as a Group when their settings are "Standard Feed". - CAJ, somewhere else
I guess feeds that aren't individuals are groups :-) - Neil Saunders
Alan has a point. - Ahsan Ali aka. Slick
separate groups section is good. now about labelling content sources rather than people... (would be nice to have this at least as an option: show user avatar OR show content source - then those of us who read by content are happy, and those who read by user are happy) - Richard Akerman
Alejandro, I first thought I'd miss "filter" but actually prefer "saved searches" now. Well because they are, aren't they? Makes things easier to understand. ;-) - Kol Tregaskes
good point Kol - Alejandro
Voice chat in groups could be nice :) - Nir Ben Yona
Thank you! - Iván Abrego
I use filters a lot and now on the HP Mini I have to scroll down the window to get to the next filter I want to check which then scrolls the page back up to the top after picking it. I have nine filters that I check probably once an hour. The page scrolling is tedious to go through. Is there a way you could move Filters up above Groups either manually or automatically based on most common use? - Loren Heiny
Thank you! Navigating to groups/rooms was a pain. - amygeek
Nice Job, I like it. It feels simpler and will be welcoming to new users. - Poor Gamer
I also don't care for the name change at the top of the "Search results." The name of the search was better at least for how I use it. I can see the actual search criteria in the seach box. I don't need it in both places. Plus, when I'm clicking through a list of saved searches one at a time I often forget where I am in the list. The title helped me keep track. - Loren Heiny

"Atom feeds" are not a "small missing components"!!! :) .. as on abay +++++AAAA+++AAAA for beta.FriendFeed - CantorJF
Just noticed the new groups sidebar. Thank you! - Carmen
Seems like the green box should be titled "Friend Lists" (in an actual Friends list, I'd expect to see Joe, Mary, Bob, etc. -- right now, there's a pretty big disconnect btw typical user expectations and what's appearing in that box). And maybe the browse/edit should then be titled "Browse/edit friend lists". - Christopher Galtenberg
Even more unexpected is that when I click on Friends, I also see Groups. There should probably be another split, so we have Lists, Friends, and Groups. Bret, you guys are going to run out of colors soon! :) - Daniel Sims
And would you *please* give us custom backgrounds and colors? - Gaby K. Slezák
Karl: tried it, but it only brings up a new filter again. If one could edit one's "saved searches list by the NAME of the filter, it'd be easy to delete it. But your suggestion didn't bring up anything that could help me get rid of the two empty filters. Neither has a delete button. - George Hall (Australia)
Ana is a boat enthusiast? - Benjamin Golub
Karl:don't know whether my desktop wasn't showing the left-side bar, but late last night, I was looking at a list of my saved searches with the delete button active for all things in the list. Finally got rid of those two items that were only bringing up a search/filter page. That left-side bar with all listed searches is an elegant solution. - George Hall (Australia)
Dont like it. No longer can get Twit Conversations to show up in Groups.. only in Home even if I add it to Groups! - Greg

Yes, it is a service from Turkey, I like it very much. I was at most active #4 only a month ago with my old account :) But developers of the project do not implement it anymore, it is pretty old and does not use new features in the friendfeed. for example, they approximate subscriber count, however it is public and certain with new design of ff. - Alp

Q about filtering imaginary friends (whatever they're called now). The create new filter dialogue does not accept the name of an imaginary friend in the Include entries from Specific friends/groups box. So the only way I could filter an imaginary friend feed was to add that feed to its own friends list and set the filter to search only that list.
This seems clumsy. Is there a better way? - Elizabeth
(I have imported my Twitter friends rss feed as an imaginary friend, and want to see everything except the stuff from BreakingNews). I now have a friendlist called Twitter which only has that one feed in it. - Elizabeth
you've hit the right work around Elizabeth. - vijay
It looks like "imaginary friends" are basically replaced with private feeds in the beta. This is actually pretty useful. For example, instead of making an imaginary friend for every webcomic you read, you can put them all in one feed (which is what I'm doing). - Karl Knechtel
Karl is right on here. :) - vijay

Another thing I would like to have back is the ability to filter my discussions. I cannot find conversations where I commented anymore so I can't really see if someone replied. How do we filter for only our likes? Do I need to create saved filters?
much needed feature. - vijay
related - http://beta.friendfeed.com/friendf... EDIT: sorry. I mis-read the post. This link is not-related. My bad. - vijay
Doesn't "My discussions" do this? - Elizabeth
"My Discussions" lists your posts, likes and comments all together. For me that is useless because I share a ton from Google Reader. - Rob Diana

I'm confused about imaginary friends. Some of mine show up in the Subscriptions box and some don't - I can only see them by clicking their name when they appear in another filter.
My old imaginary friends aren't displaying in my subscriptions page. - Tony Ruscoe
Elizabeth, you can determine which people/groups show in the subscriptions box. Click 'edit' and then start typing the name of the person/room you want to appear. It will auto-pop with suggestions, click the one you want. - FFing Enigma (aka Tina)
Thanks, Tina! That helps. Though it's a bit annoying that there's no easy way to get a list of "All subscriptions" where I can then click on an individual one. (I can filter, but then I have to know the name I want to type.) - Elizabeth
Elizabeth. I'm confused about imaginary friends sometimes, too. I mean, there's that one named Harvey who... oh, wait. We're talking about Friendfeed? Uh, nevermind :-) - Adam Lasnik
