Do you have a more positive or negative impression of China after the Olympics?

A bit more positive. Impressed with things I saw them do at the Olympics (opening ceremony, super-galactic swimming pool, lighthearted fun of beach volleyball - cheerleaders).

Depends. Do you mean the Chinese government or the people and culture of China?

At least for 16 days we had the impression there was really something like China; before that China seemed a concept promoted by both Western and Chinese media

Neither. Confirmed many of my impressions. But then, (just to be insufferable) I don't like to narrow down my thoughts on an entire country to "positive" or "negative."
